The Marshalltown philanthropic group, 100 Women Who Care, voted at their recent meeting to donate to the Livestrong program at the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA. Gina Ruddock nominated the organization to receive the 100 Women donation, and presented the check to Carol Hibbs, CEO of the YMCA-YWCA and Heidi Draisey, Livestrong Coordinator.

The donation totaled $13,600 and will help fund this program for cancer survivors and patients that provides physical, emotional and spiritual support wherever the participant is in their cancer journey. Livestrong helps establish a new normal with the participants’ health in a caring, supportive environment. More than $200,000 has been given to the community since the inception of 100 Women Who Care in 2012.

100 Women Who Care is open to any woman in the Marshalltown area. The next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 19, 2017, at Elmwood Country Club, 1734 Country Club Lane.
