Marshalltown Evening Lions welcomes new member Nancy Meyer Davis
The first meeting of the Marshalltown Evening Lions was held on Feb. 1. The club welcomed new member Nancy Meyer Davis. Meyer Davis was sponsored by Don Anderson and installation was done by DGE Judy Stone. The group looks forward to sharing projects and fundraisers with Meyer Davis and sharing her ideas for the club’s future.
At the second meeting of the month on Feb. 15, Evening Lions learned about the local Senior Center on State Street from Bobbi Reeder, director of services. The senior center offers a meeting place for seniors to share a game of cards or a board game of their choice. They also offer computer services, shuffle board, quilting and sewing machines. They hold craft sales regularly.
The club mascots, Lions Curly, MEL and Little MEL went home with Bill Peden. Brad Braga still has mascot Phil. Hard to believe he forgot him at home.
When you are enjoying the unusual weather, remember to stop and get some Lions popcorn outside of Hy-Vee Drugstore every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at Hy-Vee Grocery the last Wednesday of every month from 1-7 p.m. If you are interested in learning more about the Marshalltown Evening Lions or Lions International, contact Stone at 641-328-0270 or any Lions member or stop by the Salvation Army building where meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday nights of every month beginning at 6:30 p.m.
