‘The Star’ program by Olson at Chapter BB
The regular business meeting of P.E.O. Chapter BB met March 20 at the home of Bobbie Olson. LaDonna Allison and Erika Miller served as the tea committee. Chaplain, Mandy Abernathy, shared devotions with members. Vice-President, Sylvia Lowrance presided over the meeting with 22 members answering roll call. Recording Secretary, Catherine Lester, shared the monthly report and also correspondence from a former Marshalltown resident, Rebecca Farnbach, who is a P.E.O. member of Chapter FE in California. She offered her congratulations to BB on the 120th anniversary and thanked BB for enriching the community of Marshalltown.
A flier from Chapter CJ advertising a “Girls Night Out” on April 20 was passed around to members. Founders Day will be April 8 at Hope United Methodist Church at a cost of $13. Reservations need to be paid by April 3 to Chapter BB’s Treasurer, Michelle Roseburrough.
Calendars for the year 2017-18 were given to members. Members were reminded that paid reservations for the May 20 “Meet and Greet” dinner at Elmwood Country Club are due by May 10. Reservations for the May 21, 120th anniversary celebration at the Tallcorn Towers are also due by May 10. Non P.E.O. members are welcome to attend this celebration. Members voted to make an extra donation to the Star Scholarship Fund. Julie Kruse Brewer, a former BB member, was present at the meeting. She is a Marshalltown resident again and anxious to become an active P.E.O. member. After the meeting, Olson, presented her program “Give Thanks for the Star and its Message.” She told members about the origin of the Star and its history since 1869.
The next business meeting will be April 17 at the Binford House with Jane Bauer, Noel Lund and Julie Squires serving as the Tea Committee.
