Hart talks about Aquatic Center and Oktemberfest
The Kiwanis Club of Marshalltown “Noon” held its regular meeting Tuesday at the American Legion Hall, 1301 S. Sixth St. President Linda Dodd Smith called the meeting to order. After the pledge to the flag, Harold Cline led a prayer. Happy Dollars were donated by Mike Gowdy, Laurel Phipps and Dodd Smith.
Mike Gowdy introduced Jennifer Hart, recreation director of Marshalltown Park & Rec, as the speaker. Hart told of the Aquatic Center plans to open May 29 and to be family-friendly with day camps, water walking and swim lessons.
Hart also serves as Oktemberfest president in 2017. Hart noted that a car show will be held Friday evening and a family-friendly “Color Run” and parade will also be included at the weekend event.
The Marshalltown Noon Kiwanis Club will offer a 30-day free trial membership, including meals to those interested in checking out a service club.
This will be an excellent way to introduce new people to serving the community. It meets Tuesday at noon at the American Legion building on South Sixth Street. Offer for limited time only.
Next week on May 23 the speaker will be Kenn Vinson with an update on the new Alliant power plant.
