Lions scholarship winners visit Evening Lions

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Kiwanis P.M. President Kenny Lamb welcomes Pam Swarts, of the Art and Frame on Main, as she presented a program on art and its impact.

The Evening Lions met last Wednesday at the Salvation Army at 6:30 p.m., and after an excellent meal, we introduced and listened to three Marshalltown High School Lion’s Scholarship winners who were able to bring their families and to receive their $500 scholarships. They were chosen largely by volunteerism and academic excellence.

Recently, the club has volunteered at the Rose Garden festivities in State Center and the Fisher/Emerson Celebration on Governor Road. Also, Lions Clubs International, with more than 1.4 million members, is having their 100th International Convention in Chicago June 29 through July 5 and four members are going: Judy Stone, Bill Peden, Tim Tagstrom and Tim Fienup.

The next meeting will be on July 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army with “Jenny’s Playground” as the program. Anyone wishing to visit the Evening Lions can call 641-485-9942.
