Legion Auxiliary visited by Honor Guard commander

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #46 met July 11 at the Post Home. Hostesses for the evening were Mary Alice Groff and Letha Morgart. The meeting was called to order by President Arlene Kremer. Minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were read and approved.

Guest Ken Breinig, Honor Guard commander, thanked the Unit for their donation of $1,000. It will go toward replacing the Honor Guard’s bus with a newer, more reliable vehicle.

Committee reports were given. Cards and memorials sent three cards this past month. Americanism reported that a Stand Down will be held in Des Moines on Sept. 15-17 at Des Moines General Hospital. Girl’s State noted that the delegate and her family will be guests at the next meeting on Aug. 8 along with the Junior camp attendee.

Sign-up sheets were made available for monthly hostess duties and committee positions. After discussion it was decided to donate to Paws and Effect for the training of rescue dogs. We were reminded that dues will be $25 for the coming year.

Dates to remember: Aug. 8, Board meeting at 5:30 p.m. followed by Salad/Dessert buffet at 6 p.m. and regular meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 18, All county Bingo Iowa Veterans Home.

Installation of officers was conducted by Pat Williams. Meeting closed with a prayer by the chaplain.
