Quilt of Valor presented in Conrad

The Conrad American Legion Auxiliary Unit 681 recently presented Quilts of Valor to two area veterans, Don Vreeland and Bob Slinker. Legion Auxiliary and Legion Post member Laurie Wanken presents Vreeland with one of the quilts she prepared. Vreeland was in World War II serving in the navy for 32 months. His basic training was in Philadelphia where he was taught to repair ships. He was on the USS Wisconsin when it was being built. He also served in the Deep Sea foundry doing welding- under water while stationed in Miami. (Photo by Chuck Friend)
