A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Manuel Salvador Garcia made an initial appearance on a speeding charge, a driving under suspension charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a no insurance charge, a driving while barred-habitual offender charge and an assault charge. Tyler Heeren is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 23. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Jesus Alonzo Corona made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and an speeding charge. • Christopher Moore made an initial appearance on a speeding charge. Moore pleaded not guilty. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 15 in Magistrate Court.

• Douglas Ray Parmenter made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Parmenter pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

Arrests

• On Friday, Oct. 6, Quintin Watley, 29, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Thursday, Oct. 5, Rocky Lopez, 40, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Oct. 5, Skyler Johnson, 21, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Oct. 5, Stacy Ayers, 47, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Oct. 5, Kenneth Carmer, 58, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court.

Accidents

• On Thursday, Oct. 5, a pickup driven by Lynthia Kay Halfpop, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South Center Street approaching the Marshalltown Mall entrance when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Jennifer Perez Aguilera, of Marshalltown, which was stopped awaiting to make a turn. No injuries were reported. Halfpop was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Halfpop pickup was estimated at $3,000 while the Perez Aguilera car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Wednesday, Oct. 4, a car driven by Rachel Madson Frederiksen, of Johnston, was eastbound on 190th Street when it struck a deer that ran onto the roadway in front of her car. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Frederiksen car was estimated at $5,000.

• On Monday, Sept. 4, a truck crossed the center line and then left the roadway striking a tree and then left the scene. The officer followed fluid marks and found the truck in a back yard of an apartment. No driver has been located. Damage to the truck was estimated at $20,000.

• On Thursday, Oct. 5, Adam Harris, 34, was arrested for violation of probation.
