• Terry Christopher Stover made an initial appearance on a forgery charge and a theft-fourth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30. Stover was released on his promise to appear.

• Robert Jackson Dalton made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine-second offense charge, a driving while barred charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. Upon release Dalton will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Maurice Lamont Turner made an initial appearance on a willful injury charge and a domestic abuse assault-impeding the flow of blood or air charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• William Thomas Burns made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, a no insurance charge and a stop sign violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 9. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Jay Shannon Bear Jr. made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Sherry Reese made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. A rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 27 in Magistrate Court.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, Oct. 18, a theft valued between $1,000 – $10,000 occurred in the 100 block of West Main Street.

Citations

• On Friday, Oct. 20, Kristin Lee Osborn, 25, was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.

Arrests

• On Friday, Oct. 20, Kristin Lee Osborn, 25, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Thursday, Oct. 19, Beau Wills, 33, was arrested for no valid driver’s license.

• On Thursday, Oct. 19, Robert Dalton, 26, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance-second offense.

Accidents

• On Friday, Oct. 20, a car driven by an unknown driver went out of control in the 200 block of North Eighth Street and came to rest on railroad ties used for landscaping. Damage to the car was estimated at $4,500 while the landscaping damage was estimated at $7,000.

• On Thursday, Oct. 19, a car driven by Tavian Lawrence Hicks, 19, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South First Street when it attempted to cross West Boone Street in the path of a bus driven by Jose Pedro Pena-Gutierrez, 58, of Marshalltown, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Hicks was cited for no insurance. Damage to the Hicks car was estimated at $1,500 while the bus received an estimated at $2,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, Oct. 19, a car driven by Kimberly Sue Renner, 52, of Le Grand, was westbound from the intersection of Bohen Street and South Center Street when the driver failed to yield at the stop sign resulting in a moped driven by Vickie Anita Stahl, 70, of Melbourne, colliding with the driver’s side rear door. Stahl was Lifeflighted to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Renner was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Renner car was estimated at $5,000 while the Stahl moped received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Monday, Oct. 9, a car driven by Enrique Maravilla-Avalos, 49, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South Center Street stopped for a red light at the intersection with Olive Street when it was rear ended by a silver Toyota Tundra which proceeded to leave the scene. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Maravilla-Avalos car was estimated at $1,500.

• On Thursday, Oct. 19, Maurice Turner, 42, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-impeding the flow of air or blood and willful injury.

• On Thursday, Oct. 19, Terry Stover, 23, was arrested for forgery and theft-fourth degree.
