Court

• Juan Carlos Castellanos made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by an administrative law judge. Castellanos is being held without bond.

• Brook Taylor Harms made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 27. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Elias Seid Mohammed made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge and a speeding charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7. Mohammed was released on his promise to appear.

• Harold Andrew Lathrop made an initial appearance on an allowing an unauthorized person to drive charge. Lathrop pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195, due within 30 days.

• Christopher Duane Petersen made a burglary-second degree charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 27. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

• Vorshayn Dee Ware made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a driving while revoked charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Megan Lee Needs made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. A rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

• Salenea Theasea Mashae Phelps made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a failure to obey a stop sign charge and a failure to maintain control charge. A rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

• Luis M. Ramirez made an initial appearance on three counts of a probation violation charge. Darrell Meyer is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by District Associate Court. Ramirez was released on his promise to appear. Ramirez was ordered to go directly to his probation officer’s office following the court proceeding today.

• Jared Arthur Galloway made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Galloway will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7.

• Annette Marie Mayfield made an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge and a making firearms available to a minor charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7. Mayfield was released on her promise to appear.

• Shelley Ann Dannen made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. Dannen pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 plus a $25 civil penalty in court costs for a total of $172.75, due within 30 days.

• Floyd Lyle Beadle made an initial appearance on a no proof of vaccination charge. Beadle pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Kham L. Lian made an initial appearance through a Burmese interpreter on a failure to appear for sentencing on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge. Aron Vaughn will continue as counsel. The sentencing hearing is scheduled at 10 a.m. on Dec. 18. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Mario Gustavo Murillo made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Murillo pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75, due within 30 days.

• Ruben Sanchez made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order issued in Polk County charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 22 in Magistrate Court.

• Travis John Finch made an initial appearance on two counts of a theft-fifth degree charge. Finch pleaded guilty to both charges and the fines are $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320, each. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Ronald Joseph Iole made an initial appearance on a license violation-salvage of more than six vehicles in a year charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7. Iole was released on his promise to appear.

Incidents

• On Thursday, Nov. 16, a case of vandalism valued at under $200 was reported in the 600 block of North Center Street.

• On Thursday, Nov. 16, a theft valued between $1,000 and $10,000 was reported in the 1300 block of South Sixth Street.

Arrests

• On Friday, Nov. 17, Elias Mohammed, 39, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Friday, Nov. 17, Cole Weatherly, 22, was arrested for driving while revoked.

• On Thursday, Nov. 16, Brook Harms, 21, was arrested on a warrant from another county.

• On Thursday, Nov. 16, Juan Castellanos-Muratella, 25, was arrested on a warrant.

Nov. 12

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 206 W. Grant St., an outside rubbish fire at 113 N. First St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 610 W. State St., 1710 Olson Way, 3111 S. Sixth St., 710 1/2 E. State St., 703 Woodbury St., 305 S. 11th St., and 810 W. Lincoln Way.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 411 W. Linn St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 509 Grandview Drive, 1205 E. Nevada St., 120 E. Main St., and 609 W. Church S.

Nov. 10

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 1401 S. 17th Ave., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 1750 Marsh Ave., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2020 Catalina Place, 1402 S. 17th Ave., 2204 Dubois Circle, and 604 E. Church St.

Nov. 9

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 1915 Gethmann Lane, a dispatched/cancelled en route to 3700 S. Center St., an alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 20 W. Iowa Ave., and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 800 S. Center St., 309 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 1212 W. Main St., 312 N. Third St., 1402 S. 17th Ave., 207 NewCastle Road, 407 W. Church St., and 114 N. Eighth St.

Nov. 8

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 2902 S. Center St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1805 Summit St., 1501 E. Nevada St., 308 Sugar Plum Place, 407 W. Church St., and 414 N. 15th Ave.

Nov. 7

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 3202 S. 12th St., two good intent calls to 206 Nicholas Drive, and Highway 14, and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 112 N. First St., 312 N. Third St., and 1205 E. Nevada St.

Nov. 6

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle at 1100 S. Sixth St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 312 W. High St., 709 Roberts Terrace, and 1212 W. Main St.

Grundy County Sheriff

Arrests

• On Sunday, Nov. 12, John Boldon, 21, of Waterloo, was arrested by Ft. Dodge Correctional Facility on a Grundy County warrant charging him with burglary-third degree. Boldon posted bond and was released.

• On Thursday, Nov. 9, Cameron Hayden, 27, of Grundy Center, was arrested on three Marshall County warrants charging him with probation violation. Hayden was released to the Marshall County authorities.

• On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Matthew Thompson, 42, of Grundy Center, was arrested for aggravated assault and simple assault. Thompson posted bond and was released.

• On Tuesday, Nov. 7, James Eckheart, 34, of Beaman, was arrested in Beaman and charged with violation of a protective order. Eckheart was released on his promise to appear.

• On Monday, Nov. 6, Samantha Doble, 27, of Stout, was arrested at the Sheriff’s Office and charged with operating while intoxicated-first offense. Doble was released after being fingerprinted.

Accidents

• On Thursday, Nov. 16, a vehicle driven by Allan Rhoades, 77, of Reinbeck, was southbound on Blackhawk Street in Reinbeck when it left the roadway at 270th Street striking a road sign and then a tree. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Rhoades vehicle was estimated at $8,000.
