Court

• Jamie L. Williams made an initial appearance on three counts of a probation violation charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore will continue as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled at 3 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2018. Williams is being held without bond.

• Javier Munoz Amaya made an initial appearance on a trespass-first offense charge. Amaya pleaded guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $455, due within 60 days.

• Jay Lester Rick made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge. Rick will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2018. Rick is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Dawn Bruns made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. Bruns pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, $60 in court costs and a civil penalty of $25 for a total of $172.75, due within 30 days.

• Marcelo Gonzalez Jr. made an initial appearance on a dark windshield/window charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a operation without registration charge. Gonzalez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 7, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

• Howard Earl Young made an initial appearance on a theft-second degree charge and a forgery charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2018. Young is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within eight hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Shawn Michael Stewart made an initial appearance through counsel, Aron Vaughn, on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge. Vaughn waived the preliminary hearing.

• On Wednesday, Dec. 27, a report of a theft on Lafrentz Lane was reported to the Marshalltown Police Department.

• On Thursday, Dec. 28, Jolene Maria Navarro Carl, 20, was cited for no insurance.

• On Thursday, Dec. 28, Talia Naomi Fosness, 21, was cited for failure to use headlamps when required.

• On Thursday, Dec. 28, Tyler James Sanders, 25, was cited for fraudulent use of registration.

• On Thursday, Dec. 28, Tyler Sanders, 25, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Thursday, Dec. 28, Talia Fosness, 21, was arrested for possession of marijuana-first offense.

Accidents

• On Thursday, Dec. 28, a pickup driven by Loren Eugene Peters, 43, of Union, was westbound on Iowa Avenue West in snowy conditions when the pickup lost traction resulting in it momentarily entering the north ditch, crossing the roadway of The Village Circle, sliding sideways into the yard at 1603 Iowa Ave. West before correcting over and colliding with a legally parked SUV in the driveway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Peters pickup was estimated at $100 while the SUV received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Wednesday, Dec. 27, a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 15-year-old male from Marshalltown was eastbound on Columbus Drive when the youth lost control of the Jeep and turned westbound striking a utility pole on the passenger side. No injures were reported. Damage to the Jeep was estimated at $5,000 while the light pole received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 2500 S. Center St.

Dec. 23

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an outside rubbish fire at 919 Jackson St., a carbon monoxide incident at 815 N. Fifth Ave., a good intent call to 1516 Clinton St., and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 611 E. South St., 22 N. First Ave., 1606 S. Fifth St., 1211 W. State St., 15 N. 11th Ave., 2506 Fremont St., 208 S. Fourth St., and 203 E. High St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 3302 S. Center St., and 12 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 112 N. Fourth St., 1502 S. Sixth St., 901 S. Center St., 305 E. Linn St., 209 N. Fifth Ave., 1006 Ratcliff Drive, 814 N. Fifth Ave., 2 N. Second Ave., 2310 S. Eighth St., 3302 S. Center St., 8 Cherry St., and 112 N. 17th Ave.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle at 2900 Dillon Road, and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 601 N. First Ave., 122 W. Main St., 219 E. Anson St., 312 W. High St., 1211 W. State St., 1011 S. Third Ave., and 405 N. Ninth St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke detector activation due to a malfunction at 502 E. Main St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 407 W. Church St., 2306 S. Center St., and 1208 S. Second Ave.

Dec. 19

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a brush or brush and grass mixture fire at 625 W. Nevada St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1211 W. State St., 2305 S. Sixth St., 501 S. 12th St., 112 Nicholas Drive, 202 N. Second Ave., and 207 NewCastle Road.

Dec. 18

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two motor vehicle accidents with injuries on Iowa Avenue and Nicholas Drive, a good intent call to 404 N. Center St., an outside rubbish fire at 504 N. Third Ave., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: North Second Street, 8 S. Fifth Ave., 407 W. Church St., 209 N. First Ave., 2802 S. Center St., 2500 S. Center St., and 106 S. First St.
