• Anthony John Formaro Jr. made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine-third or subsequent offense charge, a carrying weapons charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, an interference with official acts charge, a driving under suspension charge, a reckless driving charge, a traffic violation charge, two stop sign violation charges, a speeding charge, a failure to yield to an emergency vehicle charge and a improper light violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 26. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. Upon release, Formaro will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Nicholas Craig Hartgers made an initial appearance on a burglary-second degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 26. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

• Carl John Meyers Jr. made an initial appearance on a harassment-third degree charge. Meyers pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 4 in Magistrate Court. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Clay Clubine made an initial appearance on an operation while under the influence-second offense charge and a driving under suspension charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 5. Clubine is released on his promise to appear. Clubine will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Chester John Brown made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge and a no insurance charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 5. Brown is released on his promise to appear.

• Jonathan Lealand Ferguson made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, two counts of a driving under suspension charge, a no registration charge, a no insurance charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. Chad Frese will be hired as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 5. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Jordan Levi Foreman made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Foreman pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320, due within 30 days.

• Diego Melendez made an initial appearance on a used motor vehicle dealer license violation charge. Melendez pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Jessica Hinders made an initial appearance on a no insurance-accident charge. Hinders pleaded guilty and the fine is $500 with a $175 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735, due within 30 days.

• Jeremy Patrick Morris made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts charge and a disorderly conduct charge. Morris pleaded guilty to both charges. On the interference charge the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The disorderly conduct charge fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Ernest Eugene Sam Jr. made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 5. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Glen Wesley Sharp made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a failure to obey a stop sign charge. Sharp pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 25 in Magistrate Court.

Arrests

• On Friday, March 16, Clay Clubine, 23, was arrested for driving while license is denied or revoked and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Thursday, March 15, Megan Kutzner, 26, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Thursday, March 15, Delainey Dalton, 23, was arrested for parking violation.

• On Thursday, March 15, Pauline Strait, 59, was arrested for criminal mischief-fourth degree.

• On Thursday, March 15, Anthony Formaro Jr., 48, was arrested for carrying weapons, reckless driving, speeding, violation of one-way traffic designation, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, failure to obey a stop sign, driving under suspension, interference with official acts, possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Thursday, March 15, Jeremy Nuss, 42, was arrested on a warrant and for new charges of possession of marijuana-first offense, possession of methamphetamine-first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, March 14, a car driven by Ku Hser, 20, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Governor Road attempting to turn left onto Industrial Boulevard when it crossed the path of a pickup driven by Lynn Edwin Jensen, 64, of Marshalltown, resulting in a collision with the rear passenger side of the Hser car. No injuries were reported. Hser was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to the Hser car was estimated at $3,000 while the Jensen pickup received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, March 15, Nicholas Hartgers, 30, was arrested on a warrant charging him with burglary-second degree.

March 11

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 806 W. Linn St., a passenger vehicle fire at 7 Marion St., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 1302 W. Lincolnway, and 511 N. Second St.

March 10

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 211 N. First St., a smoke detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 511 E. Church St., a cooking fire at 1605 Laurel Drive, a brush or brush-grass mixture fire at 1108 N. Third Ave., and four medical assists with EMS crew to: 1509 Marion St., 1015 Finkle Ave., 210 N. First St., and 206 Nicholas Drive.

March 9

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two dispatched/cancelled en routes to 1705 W. Main St., and South Center Street and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1301 E. Boone St., 1211 W. State St., 3 Columbus Drive, 1500 Lincoln Towers Circle, 3202 S. 12th St., and 305 N. Second St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 514 N. Second St., 408 Melody Lane, 511 N. 12th Ave., 3010 S. Center St., 122 W. Main St., 112 N. First St., 50 E. Lafrentz Lane, and 3700 S. Center St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 412 N. Fourth St., a service call to 101 W. Iowa Ave., and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1211 W. State St., 1606 S. Fifth St., 206 Nicholas Drive, 504 W. Church St., two at 206 W. Grant St., 512 S. Sixth St., and 112 N. First St.

March 6

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two dispatched/cancelled en routes to 707 W. Church St., and 2401 S. Second St., a chimney fire at 200 S. 12th Ave., an alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 700 E. Olive St., and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 706 W. Southridge Road, 2023 S. Fifth Ave., 514 E. Olive St., 206 Nicholas Drive, 509 Lee St., 806 W. Linn St., and 106 S. First St.

March 5

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 18th Avenue and Burns Road, a dispatched/cancelled en route to 2800 Burns Road, and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 18 E. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 512 S. Sixth St., 1306 Emerald Drive, 403 E. Southridge Road, and 1607 W. State St.
