Court

• Shania Rose Kapayou, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a pre-trial release violation charge, a false report to public entity charge, a public intoxication charge and a trespass-first offense charge. Mike Marquess was appointed as counsel. The pre-trial release was revoked and a bond of $15,000 cash or surety was invoked. A pre-trial conference on the new charges is set at 9:30 a.m. on May 9 in Magistrate Court.

• Phillip Samuel Head made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Merrill Swartz was appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Rodney Ray Oelmann made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for trial charge, a speeding charge and a no insurance charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The trial will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. A pre-trial conference on the traffic charges is set at 9:30 a.m. on May 30 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Albrea Renee Winfrey made an initial appearance on a false identification charge and an interference with official acts charge. She pleaded not guilty to both charges. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on May 16 in Magistrate Court.

• Fernando Ervin Cole made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for arraignment charge and a failure to appear for an initial appearance charge, two counts of a driving while barred charge, a driving under suspension charge, a speeding charge, a no insurance charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. Christian Stickrod was appointed as counsel. The arraignment hearing is set at 1 p.m. on April 24. A preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on April 30. Cole is released on his promise to appear.

• Monica Nataly Lopez Islas made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge and two counts of a no vaccination charge. She pleaded not guilty to all charges. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on May 23 in Magistrate Court.

• Justin Fredrick Chandonia made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine charge, a driving under suspension charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on May 1. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Phillip Ray Pencil, of Eldora, made an initial appearance on a simple assault charge. Pencil pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• James Theodore Happe made an initial appearance on two counts of a rabies violation charge. Happe pleaded guilty and the fines are $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and court costs of $60 for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days,

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 207 Koeper Drive, 102 Harmony Drive, 1 W. Grant St., and 2907 S. Sixth St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke or odor removal at 3303 S. Center St., a trash fire at 309 S. Second St., a forest, woods or woodland fire at 2010 W. Main St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 510 W. Main St., 2401 S. Second St., 502 Sharon Ave., 410 Melody Lane, and 1736 Country Club Lane.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 615 Marion St., 1001 S. 12th St., 107 N. Seventh St., 511 N. 12th Ave., 402 N. 10th Ave., and 512 S. Sixth St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a trash fire at 617 W. Lincoln Way, an authorized controlled burn at 309 S. Second St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 208 N. 15th Ave., 30 Highway and 18th Avenue, 408 W. Nevada St., 202 N. Second Ave., 410 E. Boone St., and 3202 S. 12th St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident clean-up in the 3300 Block of South Center Street, a dispatched/cancelled en route to 202 N. Second Ave., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 112 E. Linn St., 504 E. Linn St., and 808 Patterson Lane.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke scare at 2802 Nelson Road, and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 20 Edgeland Drive, 512 N. Third Ave., 220 Glenda Drive, 1211 W. State St., 202 N. Second Ave., and 3700 S. Center St.
