On Wednesday, Joseph Ray Perkins was arrested on a warrant from another county.
On Thursday, a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old male from Lynnville was westbound on East Olive Street approaching a red light at South Center Street when it collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old female from Newton pushing it into the rear of a car driven by Chase Wayne Dykstra, of Newton, pushing it into the rear of a car driven by Jordan Joseph Henning, of Newton, which was stopped at the light. No injuries were reported. The 16-year-old was cited for failure to stop in an assured, clear distance. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $10,000 while the vehicle driven by the female from Newton received estimated damage of $4,000, the Dykstra car an estimated $8,000 and the Henning car an estimated $1,500.
On Wednesday, a car driven by Magdaleno Lopez-Lara, of Marshalltown, had pulled into a parking lot at 6 S. Fifth Ave., and into a stall where the driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake resulting in the car striking the support structure of an external stairway on the building. No injuries were reported. Lopez-Lara was cited for no insurance. Damage to the Lopez-Lara car was estimated at $2,500 while the building received an estimated $2,000 in damage.
On Feb. 3, a pickup driven by James William Forsythe, of Melbourne, was northbound on South Third Avenue when it attempted a left turn in front of a pickup with a snow plow on the front driven by Jeffrey Ray Syhlman, of Albion, which was traveling south on Third Avenue. The result was a collision of the two pickups. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Forsythe pickup was estimated at $5,000 while the Syhlman pickup received an estimated $1,500 in damage.
