• John Brandon Robovsky, of Le Grand, made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-strangulation charge, a possession of methamphetamine charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, an operation without registration charge and a no insurance charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 16. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Time Stewart, of Independence, Mo., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge. Stewart will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 27. Stewart is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted within 60 days to the court.

• Tiffany Ann Davis made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. • Kaw Lar Poe made an initial appearance on a leaving the scene of an accident charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• A 17-year-old male made an initial appearance on a curfew charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Nathan James Healey made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320, due within 30 days.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Timothy Joseph Stewart was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, a vehicle driven by Than Htaik, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Southridge Road at the intersection with South Center Street when it proceeded into the intersection and collided with a vehicle driven by Rachel Jane Ramirez, of Marshalltown, which was driving north on Center Street. No injuries were reported. Htaik was cited for failure to obey a flashing red light and yield the right of way and Ramirez was cited for no insurance. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,500.

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Ana Lee Heckert, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Lincoln Street stopped at the intersection with South Third Avenue and after a truck passed she initiated a left turn and collided with a car driven by Jon Renner, of Marshalltown, which was traveling south on Third Avenue. No injuries were reported. Heckert was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Heckert car was estimated at $3,000 while the Renner car received an estimated $8,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a pickup driven by Mark Eugene Gummert, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Main Street when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Moses Gayflor, of Rock Island, Ill., which was stopped awaiting traffic to clear before turning. No injuries were reported. Gummert was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Gayflor car was estimated at $750 while the Gummert pickup received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a vehicle driven by Maria Del Socorro Lopez Pena, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Eighth Avenue stopped at the intersection with East Main Street and then proceeded forward into the intersection colliding with a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old male from Tama. No injuries were reported. Lopez Pena was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $8,000 each.
