• John Maurice Allen made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, two counts of a driving under suspension charge, a no seat belt charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. Christian Stickrod was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 6. The bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.
• DeLaurentiss Caetano Arnell Thomas made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge and a driving under suspension charge. Thomas pleaded guilty to the interference charge and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days. A rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Jan. 27 in Magistrate Court on the driving under suspension charge.
• Sage Alberto Aragon made an initial appearance on a possession with the intent to deliver-marijuana charge, an operating while intoxicated charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a turning intersection violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 6. The bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted within 60 days.

Accidents
• On Jan. 12, a vehicle driven by Stacy Elaine Johnson, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South Center Street when the driver became distracted with her dogs in the car and collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Joanna Maria Coronado, of Marshalltown, which was stopped at a stop sign. No injuries were reported. Johnson was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Johnson vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Coronado vehicle received damage estimated at $500.
• On Jan. 10, a van driven by Rodney Eugene Dolezal, of Marshalltown, was exiting a driveway onto Lincoln Way when it collided with a car driven by Ronald William Hobbs, of Grass Key, Fla., which was westbound on Lincoln Way. Hobbs was transported to Central Iowa Healthcare. Damage to the Dolezal van was estimated at $1,000 while the Hobbs car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

Accidents
• On Saturday, a pickup driven by Maxwell Allen Upah, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on 200th Street when a deer jumped out of the ditch and the driver swerved to miss the deer resulting in the pickup striking the driveway at 1131 200th St., swerving back across the roadway into the north ditch where it rolled over and came to rest on its top. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Upah pickup was estimated at $5,000.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2510 S. Sixth St., 3202 S. 12th St., and 118 N. Center St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 205 N. Fourth Ave., a extrication of victims from vehicle on 12th Street and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 3202 S. 12th St., 20 E. State St., 5 E. North St., 209 W. Nevada St., and 605 Summit St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 505 Debra Drive, 1209 W. Iowa Ave., 107 N. 11th St., 802 S. Center St., 305 Edgeland Drive, 1218 Marshall Drive, 411 N. First Aver., and 403 1/2 Bromley St.
