• Kelly Lynette Anthony made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree (enhanced) charge, theft-fifth degree charge and a warrant for probation violation. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing on the theft-third degree charge is 1 p.m. on Jan. 30. The probation revocation and theft-fifth degree hearing is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 31. Bond on the theft charges is $2,300 cash or surety. The bond on the probation violation is set at $5,000 cash only.
• Jeremy Franklin Carroll made an initial appearance on a probation revocation request. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Carroll is being without bond.
• Katie Leslie Tremmel, of Eldora, made an initial appearance on a warrant for probation violation. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 10 a.m. on Jan. 31. Tremmel is being held without bond.
Grundy County Sheriff
Arrests
• On Jan. 11, Linda Mulder, age 43, of Waterloo, was arrested by Black Hawk County authorities on a Grundy County warrant charging her with probation violation. Mulder is being held without bond.
• On Jan. 5, Daniel Degner, age 54, of Dysart, was arrested at the Sheriff’s Office on a Tama County warrant charging him with domestic abuse assault. Degner posted bond and was released.
• On Jan. 4, Jeff Kubik, age 52, of Grundy Center, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon causing bodily injury. Kubik was released on his promise to appear.
• On Jan. 4, Steven Henson, age 27, of Reinbeck, was arrested in Traer and charged with domestic abuse assault. Henson posted bond and was released.
Accidents
• On Jan. 13, a car driven by Katie Mennenga, age 30, of Ackley, was eastbound on D-35 east of K Avenue when a dog entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Mennenga car was estimated at $2,000.
• On Jan. 12, a vehicle driven by Jason Wilson, age 29, of Grundy Center, was eastbound on Highway 175, east of Grundy Center when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Wilson vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
• On Jan. 5, a vehicle driven by Tammy Tournier, age 33, of Cedar Falls, was eastbound on Highway 20 when a deer entered the roadway. The driver swerved to miss the deer, lost control and entered into the south ditch where it rolled several times before coming to rest upside down against the fence. Tournier received minor injuries. Damage to the Tournier vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
• On Jan. 5, a school bus driven by Ivan Jaspers, age 79, of Eldora, was southbound on E Avenue stopped at the stop sign when it proceeded forward into the path of a vehicle driven by Jason Robinson, age 30, of Eldora, resulting in the school bus being broadsided. No injuries were reported. Jaspers was cited for failure to yield the right of way/leaving a stop sign. Damage to the Jaspers school bus was estimated at $5,000 while the Robinson vehicle received an estimated $10,000 in damage.
• On Jan. 4, a vehicle driven by Theron Schutte, age 54, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Highway 14 when at the last minute the driver decided to turn west onto D-25, missing the corner the car entered the southwest ditch where it struck the edge of a culvert. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schutte vehicle was estimated at $2,000.
• On Jan. 4, a vehicle driven by Laura Johnson, age 53, of Cedar Falls, was southbound on Highway 57 when the driver lost control resulting in the vehicle entering the east ditch and rolling onto its side. No injuries were reported. Johnson was cited for failure to maintain control.
• On Jan. 3, a vehicle driven by John Stewart, age 64, of Ankeny, was eastbound on Highway 20 west of Dike when it came upon a slow moving vehicle driven by Marvin Hamann, age 87, of Reinbeck, and lost control colliding with the side of the Hamann vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Stewart vehicle was estimated at $1,200 while the Hamann vehicle receive an estimated $2,500 in damage.
• On Jan. 3, a vehicle driven by Frederick Fraiser, age 61, of Newton, was northbound on Highway 14 when the vehicle lost traction on the frost covered roadway, entered the east ditch and rolled. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Fraiser vehicle was estimated at $8,000.
• On Dec. 30, a vehicle driven by Scott Sivola, age 24, of Aplington, was southbound on J Avenue and turned west onto 110th Street when the vehicle went out of control on the icy covered gravel, slid into the southwest ditch and rolled onto its top. No injuries were reported. Sivola was cited for driving under suspension. Damage to the Sivola vehicle was estimated at $6,500.

Arrests
• On Wednesday, Brandon Lee Schmidt was arrested on a warrant.
• On Wednesday, Jeremy Franklin Carroll was arrested on a warrant for probation violation.
• On Wednesday, Kelly Anthony was arrested on a warrant for theft-fifth degree and on a warrant for probation violation.
Accidents
• On Tuesday, a pickup driven by Leonardo Monreal-Leos, of Marshalltown, was eastbound in the 1200 block of Lincoln Way when the icy conditions caused the driver to lose control striking a utility pole and mailbox. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Monreal-Leos pickup was estimated at $2,000 while the mailbox received an estimated $100 in damage and the utility pole an estimated $200 in damage.
• On Friday, a pickup driven by Steven Ray Brittain, of Marshalltown, was parked and left running in front of US Cellular to run into the store for a moment. The pickup slipped into reverse or neutral and began rolling backward until it collided with a car driven by Lorena Andrade, of Marshalltown, driving through the lot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Andrade car was estimated at $1,500.
• On Friday, a Jeep driven by Jeremy Scott Lammert, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South 12th Street when it ran the stop sign at the intersection with West Church Street and collided broadside with a vehicle driven by Tiffany Dawn Lynch, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Lammert was cited for no insurance. Damage to the Lammert Jeep was estimated at $1,000 while the Lynch vehicle received an estimated $2,000 in damage.
