• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire at 521 N. First St., an extrication of victims from a vehicle at 1739 Wallace Ave., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 209 S. Eighth St., 309 S. 11th St., 3202 S. 12th St., 609 W. Church St., 105 W. Boone St., and 505 S. Fifth St.

Saturday

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 401 1/2 W. South St., 107 Thunderbird Drive, 916 E. Main St., and 107 Thunderbird Drive.

Dec. 30

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two outside rubbish fires on North Fourth Avenue and on West Church Street and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 803 E. Main St., 1211 W. State St., 205 S. Ninth Ave., 1211 W. State St., 209 W. Nevada St., 1401 S. 17th Ave., 304 Melody Lane, and 1211 W. State St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 23 S. Center St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 306 Nicholas Drive, 1211 W. State St., 111 S. Third Ave., 2104 S. Third Ave., and 11 Edgeland Drive.

Dec. 28

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a breakdown of light ballast at 31 N. Center St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 508 1/2 E. Main St., 106 N. Fifth St., and 1211 W. State St.

Dec. 27

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a malicious, mischievous false call at 2306 S. Center St., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 527 N. Second Ave., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 407 N. 14th Ave., 1207 S. Third St., 111 S. Third Ave., 1511 S. Fifth St., and 812 W. Boone St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 3202 S. 12th St., and 407 N. Third Ave.

Thursday

• Christopher John Egenberger made an initial appearance on a sex offender registry violation-second offense. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Austin Peter Bair made an initial appearance on a forgery charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 24. Bair was released on his promise to appear.

• Joseph Chapman, of Haverhill, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. A rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Jan. 27 in Magistrate Court. Chapman was released on his promise to appear.

• Jacqueline June Alman made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge and a operation without registration charge. A rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Jan. 27 in Magistrate Court. Alman was released on her promise to appear.

• On Monday, Aaron Perry was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

• On Monday, Charles Slebo was arrested for possession of marijuana-first offense.

• On Monday, Jean Burhama was arrested for open container in a motor vehicle-passenger.

• On Monday, Dean Oziah was arrested for trespass.

• On Monday, Karina Hernandez was arrested for dogs at large.

Accidents

• Sometime between Oct. 10 and Dec. 30, 2016, a semi tractor-trailer, owned by Jerry L. Miller, of Marshalltown, received hit and run damage while being parked in a lot in the 1700 block of East Anson Street. Damage to the semi tractor-trailer was estimated at $4,000.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Tyler John Heitmeyer was arrested om a warrant.

• On Wednesday, Austin Peter Bair was arrested on a warrant.

• On Dec. 30, Tracy Nichole Earhart was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Saturday, a pickup driven by Dennis Alphonse Simon, of Newton, was northbound on Highway 14 when a deer entered the roadway and was struck causing minor front end damage to the pickup. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Simon pickup was estimated at $3,000

• On Dec. 29, a car driven by Ronald James Wolfe, of Newton, was northbound on Highway 14 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Wolfe car was estimated at $2,500.

• On Dec. 23, a minivan driven by Patricia Ann Templeton, of Liscomb, was northbound on Marsh Avenue when the driver lost traction, slid to the right shoulder, over-corrected and slid into the west ditch where it struck a tree. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Templeton minivan was estimated at $2,500.

• On Dec. 22, a minivan driven by Audrey Janice Lutes, of Gilman, was southbound on Highway 14 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Lutes minivan was estimated at $2,000.

• On Dec. 22, a vehicle driven by William Joseph Smith, of Ferguson, was southbound on Smith Avenue when it failed to negotiate a curve and entered the right hand side ditch. Smith was able to drive the car out of the ditch and continue home before reporting the incident. No injuries were reported. Smith was cited for driving while suspended and failure to maintain control. Damage to the Smith vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

• On Dec. 20, a car driven by Norma Darlene Black, of Garwin, was northbound on Zeller Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Black car was estimated at $2,000.

• On Dec. 20, a car driven by Abigail Jean Horn, of Melbourne, was westbound on Iowa Avenue West at Oak Park Road when a deer entered the roadway and was struck causing heavy front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Horn car was estimated at $3,500.

• On Dec. 17, a car driven by Morgan Lea Harrelson, of Marshalltown, had just merged onto Iowa Avenue West from the eastbound ramp traveling too fast for the road conditions and went out of control sliding off the right hand side of the road, through the ditch and striking a ‘Do Not Enter Sign’ before coming to rest. No injuries were reported. Harrelson was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Harrelson car was estimated at $5,000.

• On Dec. 14, a car driven by Jeremiaha Joe Harrelson, of Marshalltown, was stopped on Zeller Avenue with the crossbars down at a railroad crossing when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Alfredo Parra Martinez, of Marshalltown, and then left the scene. No injuries were reported. Harrelson was stopped several miles later and charged with following too close. Damage to the Parra Martinez car was estimated at $2,000.
