• Amy Marie Debassige made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge and a no registration plate charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 8. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.
• Elias Garcia Rivera made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a perjury charge. Garcia Rivera will hire Chad Frese as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 30. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.
• Emadaldin Mohammed Abdalla, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Abdalla pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.
• Evan Jeehwan Ferneau made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and received a deferred judgment with these conditions: unsupervised probation for one year, pay a $65 civil penalty and court costs of $60 within 90 days and obey all laws. If Ferneau meets all requirements, he may petition the court on Jan. 19, 2018, to expunge the charge from his record.
• Mathew Jay Cook made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.
