Local woman faces cocaine and meth charges

A Marshalltown woman faces a host of drug related and other charges after being arrested by the Marshalltown Police Department earlier this week.

Jill Marie Weitzell, 33, was charged with possession with the intent to deliver cocaine (less than 100 grams) possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine (less than 5 grams) and prohibited acts — keeping a premises for storage or use of controlled substances.

Weitzell was also charged with child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing in Marshall County District Court is scheduled 1 p.m. on March 6. Weitizell is being held without bond in the Marshall County Jail for probation violation.

Wednesday

• Jill Weitzell made an initial appearance on a possession with the intent to deliver cocaine charge, a possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge, a keeping a premises for the purpose of storing or using controlled substances charge, a child endangerment charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 6. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. Weitzell is being held without bond on a probation violation charge. Upon release, she will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Sierra A. Price made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge, a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a fraudulent use of registration charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is set at 9:30 a.m. on March 3. The traffic charges will be heard at that time.

• Felicia Jane Huffaker, of Brooklyn, made an initial appearance on a theft-fourth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 6. Huffaker was to be photographed and fingerprinted at the Marshalltown Police Department.

• Lal Tha made an initial appearance through a Burmese interpreter on a domestic abuse assault causing bodily charge, a domestic abuse assault-strangulation charge and a first degree harassment charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 24. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A photograph and fingerprint order was issued. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

• Riley Adam Hodge, of Newton, made an initial appearance on a theft-fourth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 6. Hodge was released on his promise to appear. A photograph and fingerprint order was issued in this case.

• Ricardo Ochoa Ramirez made an initial appearance on a leaving the scene of an accident charge and a striking unattended vehicle charge. Ochoa Ramiez pleaded guilty to both charges. The fines are $65 with a surcharge of $22.75 and court costs of $60 for a total of $147.75 on each charge, due within 30 days.

• On Feb. 8, Stephanie Lynn Anderson was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Saturday, a car driven by Ashley Brooke Gartin, of Gilman, was westbound on Main Street Road at the Eastman curve when the driver misjudged the curve, started turning late and drove directly into the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Gartin was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the ` car was estimated at $2,000.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, a sanitation truck driven by Kenneth Allen Lamb, of Marshalltown, was backing into a driveway at 1214 E. Nevada St., when it struck a vehicle parked in the driveway and pushed it into the garage door. No injuries were reported. Damage to the parked vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

• On Feb. 5, a Jeep driven by Kawlar Wah, of Marshalltown, was northbound in the 400 block of North 10th Avenue when the driver fell asleep at the wheel resulting in the Jeep going off road and striking a tree. Wah was transported to Central Iowa Healthcare. Damage to the Wah Jeep was estimated at $6,000 while an alternate parking sign which was struck received $50 in damage.
