• Ilias J. Lasley made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of pre-trial release. Darrell Meyer has been hired as counsel. The District Court will reschedule Lasley’s jury trial. Lasley is being held without bond.

Accidents

• On Friday, a car driven by a 17-year-old from State Center was westbound on West Main Street when, due to the icy road conditions, it collided with the rear of a car driven by Mark David Shaffer, of Marshalltown, which had slowed to make a left turn onto Highland Acres Road. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s car was estimated at $3,800 while the Shaffer car received an estimated $4,000 in damage.

• On Friday, at a time when the roadway on the Center Street viaduct became quickly ice covered, a pickup driven by Stephanie Ann Moreno, of Marshalltown, was northbound heading to the top of the viaduct when it went into a slide and struck the right side of the viaduct causing significant front end damage. A car driven by a 17-year-old female from Marshalltown, was unable to avoid a collision with the Moreno pickup and struck the rear quarter panel on the left side. A minivan driven by Charlotte V. Santana, of Marshalltown, attempted to avoid the collision by going around in the oncoming traffic lane, went into a slide and collided with an oncoming, slow-moving vehicle driven by Jose Anton Marceleno Martinez, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Moreno pickup was estimated at $3,000 while the juvenile’s car received an estimated $500 in damage, the Santana minivan an estimated $1,500 in damage and the Marceleno Martinez vehicle an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, Scott Edward Mills Jr. was arrested on a traffic warrant from another county.

• On Tuesday, Mary Lou Daniel was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Monday, Joshua Joe Sprague was arrested on a warrant from another county.

• On Monday, Jesse Ceniceros was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Feb. 22, Omar B. Garcia was arrested for operating while under the influence-second offense, failure to maintain a safety belt, trespass, failure to maintain control and no valid driver’s license.

• On Feb. 19, Timothy Luke Baer was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense and no insurance-accident.

• On Feb. 13, Tressa Richelle Voss was arrested for violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court.

Accidents

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Elva Mireya Bravo Nava, of Mason City, was westbound on Highway 30 when it went out of control on the icy road conditions sliding into the median and rolling at least one time. Nava was transported to Central Iowa Healthcare after being cut from the vehicle. Damage to the Nava vehicle was estimated at $7,000.

• On Feb. 12, a car driven by Mark Kevin Vasquez, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Highway 330 when it blew a tire causing the car to swerve and the driver to overcorrect which sent the car into the east ditch and a small creek. No injuries were reported. Vasquez was cited for failure to maintain control and driving under suspension.
