• Ahmed Dek Ismail made an initial appearance on a willful injury-causing a serious injury charge, a going armed with intent charge and a providing false identification charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 6. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Alexander W. Perry made an initial appearance on a probation violation and on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on April 13. The possession charge will be heard at the same time. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Treyor James Sealman made an initial appearance on two counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 6. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. No-contact orders were issued for the protected parties.

• Brandon Lee Meling made an initial appearance on a harassment-first degree charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 6. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Ernesto Ruiz Silva made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Breanna Nelson was appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on April 11. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. If he owns or possesses any firearms or ammunition, Ruiz Silva is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Joseph Wade Bown made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a dark windows charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 14. Bown was released on his promise to appear.

• Christopher Tony Bounmy made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Mark Leroy Mitchell made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $25 with a $8.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $93.75, due within 30 days.

Accidents

• On Friday, a pickup driven by Christopher John Clark, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on State Street approaching the intersection with State Street when it went through the stop sign and collided with a school bus driven by Michael Wayne Ruth. No injuries were reported. Clark was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. It was noted that the school bus did not have a license plate number on the vehicle registration. Damage to the school bus was estimated at $3,000 while the Clark pickup received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a Lexus was legally parked on South Second Street when it received side swipe damage to the driver side rear door from a hit and run vehicle. Damage to the Lexus is estimated at $2,000.
