Weatherly is released under supervision through the Department of Correctional Service and is to appear at the adult probation office by 4 p.m. Monday and sign a pre-trial release agreement. Weatherly will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Curtis Edward Carson made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-first offense charge and a public intoxication charge. Carson pleaded not guilty to both charges. Emily Swartz is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on June 14 in Magistrate Court. Carson is released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Tanya Katheryn Cobb made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge and a interference with official acts charge. Cobb pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on the disorderly charge is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. On the interference charge the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

Accidents

• On Friday, a minivan driven by Valerie Ann Villone, of Ferguson, was eastbound on Woodland Street, exceeding the speed limit of 15 miles per hour, when it left the roadway to the south striking a fire hydrant and moving it 50 feet from its location and continuing forward striking a utility pole owned by Alliant Energy and severing it at the base. Villone was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Villone was cited for no insurance, violations of a restricted license, no insurance and failure to maintain control. Damage to the Villone minivan was estimated at $8,000 while the utility pole and the fire hydrant received an estimated $10,000 damage to each.

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Kelli Sue Newton, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Center Street behind a car driven by Rodney Terrance Howze, of Newton, when the green turn arrow lit up she let her foot off the brake and collided with the rear of the Howze car. Howze was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Newton was cited for unsafe starting of a stopped vehicle. Damage to the Newton vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Howze car received an estimated $750 in damage.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a rescue or EMS standby on North First Street and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 302 NewCastle Road, 301 S. Fourth Ave., 1602 S. Second Ave., 707 W. Boone St., 626 Ratcliffe Drive, and 1311 W. Boone St.
