• David Wayne Vancannon Jr. made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge and a driving under suspension charge. Merrill Swartz was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 12. Vancannon was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted within 60 days.
• Kevin Ray Madison Jr. made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. A rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on June 30 in Magistrate Court. Madison is released on his promise to appear.

Accidents
• On Sunday, May 7, a car driven by Marion May Choneska, of Marshalltown, was driving through the parking lot at 1702 S. Seventh Ave., when it struck a legally parked Ford Fusion. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ford Fusion was estimated at $5,000.
• On Friday, May 5, a vehicle driven by Susan Rachelle Sumpter, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on West State Street attempting to turn left into the 10 block of North Second Street when it collided with a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old male. No injuries were reported. Sumpter was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to the Sumpter vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the juvenile’s vehicle received an estimated $1,200 in damage.
• On Monday, May 1, a vehicle driven by Randy Lee Eash, of Marshalltown, was westbound on West Lincoln Way when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Lisa Marie Peters, of Marshalltown, which had slowed to turn left into a driveway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Peters car was estimated at $500 while the Eash vehicle received an estimated $2,000 in damage.
