• Robert Lee Cain made an initial appearance on a child endangerment causing bodily injury charge, a child endangerment charge, a domestic abuse assault charge and a disorderly conduct charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 8. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. No-contact orders have been issued for the protected parties.

• A 15-year-old female made an initial appearance on a violation of a restricted license charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on June 28 in Magistrate Court.

Accidents

• On Saturday, a minivan driven by Crucita De Paula Nunez De Ba, of Marshalltown, was attempting to exit a parking lot in the 300 block of South Third Avenue while a non-contact vehicle was awaiting to turn into the parking lot and the minivan proceeded to cross both lanes of traffic to turn left and collided with a minivan driven by Mary Lanette Mellows, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. De Paula Nunez De Ba was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. Damage to the De Paula Nunez De Ba minivan was estimated at $3,500 while the Mellows minivan received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, a car driven by Benjamin Woods Henrich, of State Center, was southbound on Campbell Drive when the driver stated he fell asleep at the wheel resulting in the car going off the roadway into the east ditch where it struck the embankment, went airborne striking a utility on the south side of the Camp Juliette drive shearing it off three feet above the base. Henrich left the scene. No injuries were reported. Henrich was cited for striking fixtures upon a highway, failure to maintain control, driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway and careless driving. Damage to the Henrich car was estimated at $10,000 while the utility pole owned by Alliant Energy received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Monday, Ian Niles Kapayou was arrested for speeding, open container, operation without interlock device, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while barred-habitual offender, possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense and operation while under the influence-third or subsequent offense.

• On Monday, Diaz Vincent Sheridan was arrested on a warrant.

• On Sunday, Matthew Vajgrt was arrested for no valid driver’s license, open container, fraudulent use of registration, failure to maintain control, driving under suspension, operating without interlock device, driving while license is denied or revoked and operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Sunday, Andres Rodriguez-Gutierrez was arrested for speeding, no valid driver’s license, driving while under suspension, driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended, operating vehicle without interlock device, unlawful possession of prescription drugs and driving while license is denied or revoked.

• On Saturday, Devante Stewart was arrested for assault.

• On Saturday, Jeffrey Ray Syhlman was arrested for open container, child endangerment-no injury and operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Friday, Ulysses Adar Esquivel-Vallejo was arrested for fraudulent use of registration, operation without registration, no valid driver’s license, no insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine-first offense and possession of marijuana-first offense.

Accidents

• On May 19, a vehicle driven by Marissa Dawn Nelson, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Wallace Avenue when the driver attempted to make a U-turn and underestimated how close the ditch edge the vehicle was resulting in the Nelson vehicle entering the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Nelson was cited for no valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control. Damage to the Nelson vehicle was estimated at $2,500.
