• Jonte Dante Donelson made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 30. Donelson is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days of today’s date.

• Bradley Michael Wanatee made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Wanatee pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Kione Jerome Donelson made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-second offense charge, a driving under suspension charge, a careless driving charge, a failure to obey a red light charge, a failure to yield to an emergency vehicle charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 30. Donelson is released on his promise to appear. • Ashley Jo Brown made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 30. Brown is released on her promise to appear. If she owns or possesses any firearms or ammunition, Brown is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office to make arrangements to surrender them. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• A 16-year-old male made an initial appearance on a speeding charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on July 12 in Magistrate Court.

• James Henry Hodson made an initial appearance on a harassment-third degree charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for total of $147.75, due in 30 days. The previously paid bond will be used to pay the charges with the remainder returned to Hodson.

• Hunter Christian Ralston made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge, a striking unattended vehicle charge and a purchase of alcohol under legal age limit-first offense charge. Ramirez is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office with 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Accidents

• On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Ericberto Torres, of Marshalltown, was southbound in an alleyway behind 500 N. First St., when a bee in the vehicle distracted the driver resulting in Torres striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Torres vehicle was estimated at $2,500 while the utility pole received an estimated $250 in damage.

• On Friday, a pickup driven by David Albert Cox, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Governor Road when it struck a pedestrian which was also traveling south and then left the scene. The pedestrian received minor injuries, but did not receive medical attention. Cox was cited for leaving the scene of an accident with injury.
