• Andreas Jose Ibanez made an initial appearance on a driving an unsafe vehicle charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195, due within 30 days.

• Yosief Tsegezeab Gebrezghabihir made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, an open container charge, a no insurance charge and a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 2. Gebrezghabihir was released on his promise to appear. A photograph and fingerprint order is to be taken by the Marshalltown Police Department and completed by Aug. 13. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Krystal Kaye Brubaker made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. She pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Jacob Lawrence Hansen made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Deonta D. Brown Jr. made an initial appearance on a assault causing bodily injury charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 2. The previously posted bond will continue as posted. A photograph and fingerprint order is to be taken by the Marshalltown Police Department. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Todd Alan Meehan made an initial appearance on a no insurance-accident charge and a failure to stop in the assured, clear distance charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. The no insurance fine is $500 with a $175 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $740. The fine on the stopping charge is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $152.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Rylie Jordan Underhill made an initial appearance on a speeding charge and a driving under suspension charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. in Magistrate Court.

Nevada St., an outside rubbish fire at 207 S. 12th St., two good intent calls to 909 Stegman Blvd., and 601 W. Church St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 535 N.Third St., 905 Iowa Ave. West, 311 1/2 Jerome St., 203 E. Palmer St., and 541 N. Third St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 310 Edgewood St., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 1301 Summit St., and 802 S. Center St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 2806 Arnold Drive, a system malfunction at 403 Union St., and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 413 N. • The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two medical assists with the EMS crew to 107 N. 12th Ave., and 3202 S. 12th St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call on North Fourth Avenue, a natural vegetation fire at 1401 S. Seventh Ave., a CO detector activation due to malfunction at 305 Melody Lane, and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 612 E. Church St., 407 W. Church St., 519 N. First St., and 200 N. Third Ave.

• On Thursday, a theft was reported in the 500 block of South Sixth Street.

• On Thursday, Andreas Ibanez was arrested for driving or towing unsafe vehicle.

Accidents

• On Thursday, a pickup driven by Joseph Paul Stineman, of Marshalltown, was eastbound in the 300 block of East Nevada Street when the driver dropped an item, looked away for a second and when he looked back took evasive action to avoid colliding with the rear of a car stopped behind a semi resulting in the pickup striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported. Stineman is cited with failure to stop in a safe, assured distance. Damage to the Stineman pickup is estimated at $8,000.

• On Wednesday, a car driven by James Ronald Hazelwood, of Eldora, was southbound on Highland Acres Road stopped at the stop sign when it proceeded forward to turn eastbound a car driven by Daniel Mason Talbert, of Marshalltown, which was traveling east on West Lincolnway collided with the Hazelwood car. Hazelwood was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Hazelwood car is estimated at $3,000 while the Talbert car received an estimated $5,000 in damage.
