Tuesday

• Eduardo Martinez made an initial appearance on a warrant charging him with probation violation. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 24 in District Associate Court Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Daniel Warnell made an initial appearance on a failure to use or maintain a safety belt charge. Warnell pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 30 in Magistrate Court.

Wednesday

• Jason Solis Grau made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-strangulation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 18. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Dylan Daniel Dainty, of Norwalk, made an initial appearance on a warrant charging him with failure to appear for a pre-trial conference on a driving under suspension charge and a stop sign violation charge. Dainty pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving under suspension charge the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $402.50. The fine on the stop sign violation is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $200. There may be additional fees applied for the service of the warrant. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Amy Stanley made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a sentencing hearing charge. Aaron Siebrecht will continue as counsel. The sentencing hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Logan Andrew Calkins made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 29. Calkins is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Daniel Villarreal, of Illinois, made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 29. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Dean Allen Oziah III made an initial appearance on a possession of cannabidiol-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 29. Oziah is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Cynthia Shattuck made an initial appearance on a failure to appear-contempt of court charge involving a City of Ferguson nuisance ticket charge. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Tina Marie Roberts made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge and a littering charge. Emily Swartz is appointed as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 30 in Magistrate Court.

Incidents

• On Monday, there was a report of a theft in the 900 block of West State Street.

Arrests

• On Monday, Allen Schrader was arrested for interference with official acts.

• On Monday, Quentin Hafner was arrested for fireworks-prohibited use.

• On Monday, Justin Welder was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Tuesday, Jason Grau Solis was arrested for domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing a bodily injury.

Accidents

• On Monday, a minivan driven by Briseire Carrazco Rodriguez, of Marshalltown, was southbound on North Third Avenue when it attempted a left turn onto Marion Street crossing the path of a car driven by Cynthia Marie Hauser, of Union, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Carrazco Rodriguez was cited for failure to yield upon left turn, no valid driver’s license and no insurance. Damage to the Carrazco Rodriguez minivan was estimated at $3,500 while the Hauser car received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Incidents

• On Tuesday, a theft of a motor vehicle was reported to the police in the 10 block of West Boone Street with a value of under $10,000.

• On Tuesday, there was a report of criminal mischief involving reckless use of fire and or explosives in the 100-200 blocks of West State Street area.

Aug. 6

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 106 Anson Circle, 701 N. Fourth St., 201 E. Main St., 2006 Blossom Lane, 1 W. Grant St., 206 Olson Way, 3012 S. Center St., and 1 W. Grant St.

Aug. 5

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 814 S. Sixth St., 412 N. Center St., 3108 S. Center St., 1108 W. Iowa Ave., 3202 S. 12th St., 203 Thunderbird Drive, and 504 Thomas Drive.

Aug. 4

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 805 Joan Terrace, a system malfunction at 1714 S. Center St., an outside rubbish fire at 2103 S. Sixth St., and 10 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1308 E. Olive St., 304 N. Third Ave., 1308 E. Olive St., 2110 Edgebrook Drive, 116 E. Anson St., 514 E. Olive St., 1211 W. State St., 11 W. Ingledue St., 309 N. Second Ave., and 1211 W. State St.

Aug. 3

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two dispatched/cancelled en routes to 3000 S. Center St., and 101 NewCastle Road, a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Lincoln Way, and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 10 W. Grant St., 924 N. Fifth Ave., 1806 Summit St., and 707 W. Boone St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident, general clean-up at 1612 W. Lincolnway, a grass fire at 600 Iowa Ave. West, a detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 1301 Summit St., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 615 Summit St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1211 W. State St., 3202 S. 12th St., 1108 Iowa Ave. West, 1716 S. Fourth St., 608 N. Second Ave., and 201 E. Main St.

Aug. 1

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an attempted burning, illegal action at 1601 Marion St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 11 W. Grant St., 541 N. Second St., 210 1/2 N. Sixth St., 1108 W. Iowa Ave., 109 N. 19th St., and 2401 S. Second St.
