• Dustin E. Pherigo, of Newton, made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Jeffrey Hazen is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Pherigo is being held without bond.

• Robert Terrell Kluck made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. Jeffrey Hazen is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Kluck is released on his promise to appear.

• Breanna A. Bly made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Brett Gene Daugherty, of Newton, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 6. Daugherty is released on his promise to appear.

• Christopher Bounmy made an initial appearance on a speeding charge and a no insurance charge. Bounmy pleaded guilty to both charges. On the speeding charge is $20 with a $7 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $92. The fine on the no insurance charge is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $402.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Fred Charles Jones made an initial appearance on a failure to maintain a reasonable and proper speed charge. Jones pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Zachary Lee Bowers made an initial appearance on an operating while under the influence-first offense charge. Emily Swartz is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 6. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Minnie Ann Climer, of Montour, made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. Climer will hire her own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 1. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Timothy James Leavy made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. Leavy will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8. Leavy is released on his promise to appear.

• Blake Edward Shutt made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a possession of alcohol under the legal age charge. Shutt pleaded guilty to both charges. On the paraphernalia charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75. The fine on the possession of alcohol under legal age limit is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Omar B. Garcia made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, a no insurance charge and a dark windows charge. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 7. Garcia is released on his promise to appear.

• A 16-year-old male made an initial appearance on a no valid driver’s license charge and a failure to wear a seatbelt charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 20 in Magistrate Court.

• A 17-year-old male from Des Moines made an initial appearance on a violation of an instruction permit charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 27 in Magistrate Court.

• On Thursday, an incident of fraud resulting in a loss of money between $1,000 and $10,000 was reported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

• On Friday, Blake Shutt was arrested on a warrant.

• On Saturday, David Wayne Buerckley was arrested for open container, operating while under the influence and child endangerment without injury.

• On Monday, Andrew Schooley was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Thursday, Aug. 17, a vehicle driven by Kylie Taylor Cripps, of State Center, was southbound on Fairman Avenue when the driver attempted to make a right turn on to Evergreen Lane and entered the ditch just before the intersection where the vehicle struck a culvert causing functional front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Cripps vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the culvert sustained an estimated $700 in damage.

• On Thursday, Aug. 10, a vehicle driven by Michael Dean Maxwell, of Richmond, Texas, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Maxwell vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

• On Tuesday, Aug. 22, Jacob Garcia was arrested for speeding, reckless driving, no insurance and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

• On Tuesday, Aug. 22, Dustin Pherigo was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Friday, July 28, a car driven by Nathan Joseph Schmidt, of Albion, had just entered Center Street from the Highway 30 eastbound off ramp into the left lane and immediately merged into the right lane where it collided with a car driven by Brandi Leigh Varner, of Ames. No injuries were reported. Schmidt was cited for improper use of lanes. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,500 each.Marshall County Sheriff

Incidents

• On Tuesday, a theft of more than $1,000 but less than $10,000 was reported in the 1300 block of South Third Avenue.

• On Tuesday, a motor vehicle burglary was reported in the 200 block of Pine Street.

• On Tuesday, two cases of vandalism with less than $200 in damage for each was reported in the 300 block of Wauconda Road.

• On Tuesday, a theft was reported in the 1000 block of West Lincoln Way.

• On Tuesday, a motor vehicle burglary was reported in the 1000 block of West Boone Street.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Adam Bishop Sr. was arrested fo disorderly conduct.

• On Wednesday, Breanna Ann Bly was arrested for providing false identification information and on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Monday, a pickup driven by Mary Ellen Emke, of Marshalltown, was exiting a parking spot in the UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown South when it collided with the side of a car driven by Elizabeth Mae Decker, of Marshalltown, which was driving through the lot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Decker car was estimated at $1,500 while the Emke pickup received an estimated $1,200 in damage.
