• Tracie Alma Rene McFarland made an initial appearance on a forgery charge and a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 29. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Jaime Dominguez Chavero made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on an operating while intoxicated-first offense charge and three counts of a child endangerment charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 29. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. There is an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on Dominguez Chavero.

• Amanda Raylene Macias made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge and a pre-trial release violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Macias is being held without bond.

• Jerry Michael Spick made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge and an interference with official acts charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 29. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days of release.

• Tearstyn A. Zitzow made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. Both cases will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, Sept. 20, a pickup driven by Minerva Soto, 25, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Lincolnway when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Christine Ann Hayes, 60, of Haverhill, which had slowed for a left turn. Hayes was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Soto was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $3,000 each.

• On Thursday, Sept. 7, a car driven by Peggy Sue Taylor, 55, of Marshalltown, was exiting a private driveway when it struck a legally parked Chevy Tahoe. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Taylor car estimated at $100 while the Chevy Tahoe received an estimated $1,700 in damage.

Sept. 16

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 1800 Marion St., a cooking fire at 706 May St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 533 N. Third St., 108 E. South St., Highland Acres Road and 304 Lee St.

Sept. 15

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a gas leak at 1401 S. Seventh Ave., an extrication of victims from vehicle at 114 N. Center St., and 12 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 100 N. Center St., 2401 S. Second St., 403 E. Southridge Road, 503 W. Olive St., 209 W. Madison St., 104 W. Webster St., 10 N. Fourth Ave., 28 W. Main St., 403 E. Southridge Road, 19 1/2 S. Center St., South Second Avenue and 411 Bromley St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 312 W. Boone St., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 2900 Zeller Ave., a smoke detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 106 College Drive, and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 403 1/2 S. First St., 101 S. Center St., 5 S. Seventh St., 208 E. Webster St., and 604 E. Church St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three dispatched/cancelled en routes to: 5 E. Grant St., 713 S. 12th St., 10 S. Eighth Ave., a hazardous condition at 406 E. State St., an extrication of victims from vehicle on West Church Street and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 509 Lee St., 1 W. Grant St., and 710 Noble St.

Sept. 12

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a false alarm at 1301 Summit St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1303 S. Third Ave., 612 E. Church St., and 105 S. Eighth Ave.

Sept. 11

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 3100 S. Center St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 116 N. 11th Ave., 3402 S. Center St., and 219 Glenda Drive.

Sept. 10

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two outside rubbish fires at 10 N. 19th St., and 612 E. Church St., a good intent call to 519 N. Third St., and three medical assits with the EMS crew to: 810 W. Lincoln Way, 210 S. 14th Ave., and 2500 S. Center St.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Jaime Dominguez-Chavero, 35, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense and three counts of child endangerment.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, Sept. 19, a car driven by Rachelle Lynn Anderson, 39, of Marshalltown, was on the Highway 30 offramp attempting to enter Highway 330 when it pulled out into the path of a Jeep driven by Roger Clayborne Quigley, 66, of Sumner, resulting in a collision. No injures were reported following a check by medical personnel. Anderson was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Anderson car was estimated at $4,000 while the Quigley Jeep received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, Sept. 19, a vehicle driven by Kyaw Say Poe, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Poe vehicle was estimated at $4,000.

• On Thursday, Sept. 15, a truck driven by Cody Dwayne Beckham, 23, of Marshalltown, was cresting a hill on 290th Street when it came upon a semi going from one private driveway to the next and Beckham applied the brakes and left the roadway to right colliding with a semi driven by Dustin Omar Charles Nuese, of Gilman. No injuries were reported. Beckham was cited for two counts of failure to maintain control. Damage to the Beckham truck was estimated at $15,000 while the Nuese semi received an estimated $25,000 in damage.

Grundy County Sheriff

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Sept. 13, Dustin Harris, 29, of Kelley, was arrested at the Hamilton County Jail on a Grundy County Warrant charging him with probation violation. Harris is being held without bond.

• On Monday, Sept. 4, Phillip Harberts, 25, of Steamboat Rock, was arrested in Reinbeck and charged with domestic abuse assault. Harberts is released to pre-trial supervision.

Accidents

• On Thursday, Sept. 15, a car driven by Douglas Schipper, 50, of Ackley, was eastbound on Highway 20 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schipper car was estimated at $1,500.

• On Monday, Sept. 4, a vehicle driven by Ashley Frie, 28, of Des Moines, was westbound on D-35 and took the curve at T-37 too fast going out of control and entering the south ditch coming, to rest in a cornfield. No injuries were reported. Frie was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Frie vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
