• Ram Thleng Zahup made an initial appearance on a going armed with intent charge, a willful injury charge, a domestic abuse assault-displaying or using a weapon charge, harassment-first degree charge and a false imprisonment charge. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 9. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• James Franklin Duncan made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault charge. Duncan will hire his own counsel. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 9. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Matthew Daniel Puig made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 9. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Misty R. Shaver made an initial appear probation violation charge. Darrell Meyer is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Shaver is released on her promise to appear.

• David James Lee Spencer made an initial appearance on a pre-trial release violation charge. Merrill Swartz will continue a counsel. Pre-trial release is revoked and a bond is reinstated. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 with the jury trial scheduled at 9 a.m. on Oct. 19. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

• Chrystian Luke Dutton made an initial appearance on a simple domestic abuse assault. Jennifer Bonzer is appointed as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 25 in Magistrate Court. If he owns or possesses any firearms or ammunition, Dutton will have 24 hours after release to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and make arrangements to surrender them. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Joshua Mumm made an initial appearance on a operation without interlock device charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a no insurance charge. Mumm pleaded guilty to the interlock device and driver’s license charges. On the interlock device charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The fine on the no valid driver’s license is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. Mumm provided proof of insurance and the charge was dismissed with court costs of $60 assessed. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Chelsea Carnes McRill made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. She pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320, due within 30 days.

• Ashley Lopez made an initial appearance on a keeping of livestock charge. She pleaded guilty and the fine is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50, due within 30 days.

• On Thursday, a citizen reported a case of vandalism in the 3000 block of South 12th Street.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Chrystian Dutton, 18, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-first offense.

• On Thursday, Ram Zahup, 42, was arrested for willful injury-causing bodily injury, harassment-first degree, domestic abuse assault-displaying or using a weapon-first offense, going armed with intent and false imprisonment.

• On Thursday, Michael Bell, 20, was arrested for possession of alcohol by a person 18/19/20-first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Thursday, Matthew Puig, 22, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-serious-second offense.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, Sept. 27, a pickup driven by Mervin Dean Minde, of Marshalltown, was entering the parking lot at Casey’s on Iowa Avenue West when it collided with the rear of a legally parked Toyota Camry. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Camry was estimated at $2,000 while the Minde pickup received an estimated $500 in damage.

• On Thursday, Sept. 28, a pickup driven by Todd Christopher Bolar, of Marshalltown, was westbound on West Nevada Street when it went past the stop sign at the intersection with South Second Street and collided with a vehicle driven by James Frank Gorman, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Bolar was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Bolar pickup was estimated at $2,000 while the Gorman vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Sept. 24

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle on West Main Street and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1116 W. Olive St., 218 W. Ferner St., 611 E. South St., and 808 Patterson Lane.

Sept. 23

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good will call to 512 1/2 N. First Ave., an outside rubbish fire at 2101 E. Nevada St., an extrication of victims from vehicle on South Center Street and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 213 W. Ferner St., 808 Patterson Lane, 1301 S. Sixth St., 910 E. Olive St., and 407 W. Church St.

Sept. 22

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 1315 W. Main St., an outside rubbish fire at 103 Riverside Drive, and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2510 S. Sixth St., 209 Thomas Drive, 1 W. Grant St., and 304 Friendly Drive.

Sept. 21

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two dispatched en routes to 711 N. Third Ave., and 1301 Summit St., a motor vehicle accident with injuries on West Linn Street and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1618 S. 12th St., 113 N. Second Ave., 3202 S. 12th St., and 309 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an outside rubbish fire at 1802 S. Seventh Ave., and a good intent call to 201 E. Church St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 19 1/2 S. Center St., 610 W. State St., 509 Lee St., 5 E. Anson St., 207 Pine St., 108 S. Second St., and 309 1/2 N. Second St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 309 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., an extrication of victims from vehicle at 1400 2340th St., a sprinkler activation-no fire-unintentional at 406 S. First Ave., a no incident found upon arrival on South 12th Avenue and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1301 Summit St., 402 N. 10th Ave.,701 N. Third Ave., and 514 E. Olive St.

Sept. 18

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 202 N. Second Ave., a motor vehcle accvehiclewith injuries on North Third Avenue and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 614 E. Anson St., 1 E. Main St., 208 E. Webster St., and 1506 Laurel Drive.
