• Holly Lucille Puckett made an initial appearance on a possession of contraband in a correctional facility charge, a possession of methamphetamine charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3. Puckett was released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.
• Jason Guadelupe Pena Mendez made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a leaving the scene of an accident-property damage only charge. Pena Mendez pleaded guilty to the charge and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 plus jail fees, due within 30 days. Pena Mendez is being held for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
• Chelsea Jo Reasoner, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge, a driving under suspension charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, an operation of a non-registered vehicle charge and a no insurance charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3. Reasoner was released on her promise to appear. • Alex Ramirez made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, a operation without interlock device charge, a driving under suspension charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3. Ramirez was released on his promise to appear.
• Jonathan David Hill made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 plus jail fees, due within 30 days.
• Max Jordan Schlawin made an initial appearance on a speeding charge and a loud noises from vehicle charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on the loud noises charge is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days. The speeding charge fine is $20 with a $7 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $87, due within 30 days.
• Benito Fernandez made an initial appearance on a permitting an unauthorized person to drive charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 15 in Magistrate Court.
• Richard Allen Hauser made an initial appearance on a dogs at large charge and a no proof of vaccination charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 15 in Magistrate Court.
• Brandon Pippert made an initial appearance on a failure to maintain control charge and a no insurance charge. The judge dismissed the charges for the state’s failure to file in a timely manner.

Grundy County Sheriff
Arrests
• On Thursday, Savannah Gray, 24, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested in Cedar Rapids by the Cedar Rapids Police Department on a Grundy County warrant charging her with probation violation. Gray was returned to Grundy County and remains in jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
• On Friday, Cody Meyer, 27, of Grundy Center, was arrested in Cedar Falls by the Cedar Falls Police Department on two Grundy County warrants charging him with two counts of pre-trial violation. Meyer was returned to Grundy County and also charged with unauthorized use of a credit card. Meyer remains in jail in lieu of a $26,000 bond.
