• Lewis Delbert Randolph made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Matthew John Kippe made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 31. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Derek Ray Edwards made an initial appearance on a harassment-second degree charge and a simple assault charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 31. Edwards is released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Alexander Michael Wayne Anderson made an initial appearance on a a simple assault charge. Anderson pleaded guilty to the charge and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Eric Yovani Mendez made an initial appearance on a disarming a peace officer charge and a simple domestic assault charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 31. Mendez is released on his promise to appear following resolution of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigation. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• On Monday, a case of vandalism was reported in the 10 block of East Southridge Road. Estimated value of damage was $500-$1,000.

• On Monday, a theft was reported to the Marshalltown Police Department.

• On Monday, two burglaries were reported in the 400 block of North Third Avenue.

• On Friday, Bradley Wayne Sparrow, 36, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Lewis Randolph, 46, was arrested on two counts of probation violation.

Accidents

• On Thursday, Oct. 12, a pickup driven by Brandon James Pippert, 24, of Gladbrook, was northbound on Wallace Avenue when the driver took his eyes off the road to get a drink and collided with the rear of a car driven by Perry Michael Bowers, 40, of Marshalltown, which was stopped at the intersection at Garwin Road. No injuries were reported. Pippert was cited for failure to maintain control and no insurance. Damage to the Pippert pickup was estimated at $1,500 while the Bowers car received an estimated $4,000 in damage.
