Thursday

• Crystal Lynn Perez made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge, a pre-trial release violation charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. The theft-fifth degree as well as other upcoming hearings will be handled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $3,000 cash or surety.

• Luis Gerardo Ramirez made an initial appearance on a dominion or control of a firearm by a felon charge and a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that Ramirez be photographed and fingerprinted in connection with this case.

• Jessica Stanton made an initial appearance on a pre-trial release violation charge and a unauthorized use of a credit card charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel for the credit card charge and Breanna Nelson will continue as counsel for the previous case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3. Stanton is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office by 4 p.m. today and sign a pre-trial release agreement. Further conditions of release include being photographed and fingerprinted on this case and to comply with all the mental health and substance abuse treatments.

• Joshua Stanton made an initial appearance on a contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order charge. Christian Stickrod will continue as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Stanton is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office by 4 p.m. today and sign a pre-trial release agreement. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Quannah Joseph LeClair made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. LeClair pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 LeClair has been ordered to be photographed and fingerprinted on this case and and also on another recent case.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Luis Ramirez, 35, was arrested for theft-third degree and dominion or control of a firearm by a felon.

• On Wednesday, Quannah LeClair, 39, was arrested for public intoxication-first offense.

• On Thursday, Ramon Avalos, 27, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Wednesday, Timothy Warnell II, 39, was arrested for two counts of violation of probation.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, Oct. 17, a pickup driven by Alex Andrew Schmidt, 27, of Pine City, Minn., was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that ran in front of the pickup swinging it around so that it also struck the rear of the pickup. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schmidt pickup was estimated at $1,500.

• On Sunday, Oct. 22, a car driven by Michelle Renae Branon, 55, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Highway 30 when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Branon car was estimated at $4,500.
