• Jay Shannon Bear made an initial appearance on a possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver marijuana charge, a failure to affix a drug tax stamp charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, an operation without interlock device charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a no insurance charge and a dark windows charge. Chad Frese is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 1. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. Upon release, Bear will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Ivan Rodriguez Jimenez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a speeding charge and a failure to appear for a contempt hearing charge. The contempt hearing is rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 6 in Magistrate Court and the rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2018, in Magistrate Court. Rodriguez Jimenez is released on his promise to appear.

• Christopher Michael Backoff made an initial appearance on a carrying weapons charge. Aron Vaughn is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 11. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• On Friday, an assault in a burglary attempt was reported in the 500 block of Bromley Street.

• On Saturday, a theft was reported in the 2000 block of South Center Street.

• On Sunday, a theft of a motor vehicle was reported in the 200 block of East Church Street. Value of loss was estimated at greater than $10,000.

• On Sunday, hit and run damage was reported at West Main Street and Third Street.

• On Monday, a theft was reported in the 600 block of North Third Avenue.

• On Monday, a case of vandalism was reported in the 500 block of North Fifth Street with damage valued between $1,000-$10,000.

• On Sunday, Ricardo Ibarra, 43, was cited for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended; no insurance and dark windows.
