• Dam Sian Mung made an initial appearance through a Burmese interpreter on an operating while intoxicated-first offense charge and an open container charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 15. Mung was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Frank Coleman Summers made an initial on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 8 in District Associate Court. Summers was released on his promise to appear. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Dean Allen Oziah made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Oziah pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Billy Joe Gulling made an initial appearance on two counts of a driving while barred charge. Gulling will hire Darrell Meyer as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 15.

• Tanner Clarence Stanley made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Stanley pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 20 in Magistrate Court. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel.

• Dawhan Robert Oliver made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge and a purchasing or possession of alcohol under legal age limit. Oliver pleaded guilty to both charges. On the theft charge the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320. The fine on the possession of alcohol charge is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Zachary Aaron Shutt Stanley made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Shutt pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 20. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel.

• Natalie Jean Purdy made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a possession of marijuana charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 15. Purdy is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Stephen Thomas Thompson made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge and a no seat belt charge. Thompson will hire Nick Crosby as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 15.

• Santino Deng John Aher made an initial appearance through a Arabic interpreter on a operation without interlock/contempt of court charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 24, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

• A 16-year-old male made an initial appearance on a violation of a minors restricted license charge, a no insurance charge and a speeding charge. The no insurance charge was dismissed when proof of insurance was produced with $60 in court costs assessed. The juvenile pleaded not guilty to the charges and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 27 in Magistrate Court.

• Brice Rau made an initial appearance on a operating without registration charge. Rau pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 20 in Magistrate Court.

• Khalil Yahya made an initial appearance through an Arabic interpreter on a driving under suspension-no SR 22 insurance charge, a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge. A rocket docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 15 in Magistrate Court.

• Aaron T. Miller made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a jury trial charge. A scheduling hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 8 in District Associate Court. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Priscilla Sletten made an initial appearance on a failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way charge. Sletten pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 20 in Magistrate Court.

• Naing Aung made an initial appearance through a Burmese interpreter on three counts of a failure to obey a stop sign charge. Aung pleaded guilty to all charges and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195 for each charge, due within 60 days.

• Kyler Doyle Ealy made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs plus a $25 civil penalty for a total of $172.75, due within 30 days.

Arrests

• On Friday, Glen Boehm, 47, was arrested for driving under suspension, no insurance-accident and operation without certificate of title.

• On Friday, Nicholas Weatherly, 31, was arrested for driving while barred, driving under suspension, no valid driver’s license, no insurance, improper use of registration and operating a non-registered vehicle.

• On Friday, Alesha Sanders, 30, was arrested on a warrant charging her with violation of probation.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, Nov. 21, a vehicle driven by Yoni Ricardo Sanchez Avalos, 25, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Highway 330 when a coyote entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Sanchez Avalos vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

• On Monday, Nov. 20, a car driven by Paula Lu Neutzling, 46, of Ames, was westbound on E29 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Neutzling car was estimated at $7,000.

• On Monday, Nov. 20, a car driven by Olivia Margot Nelson, 21, of Pleasant Hill, was southbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Nelson car was estimated at $6,000.

• On Sunday, Nov. 19, a pickup driven by David Gomez-Patlan, 49, of Albion, was northbound on Reed Avenue when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gomez-Patlan pickup was estimated at $4,000.

• On Sunday, Nov. 19, a pickup driven by a 15-year-old male from Marshalltown was northbound on Highland Acres Road when in an attempt to pass a car driven by a 16-year-old from Marshalltown it struck the left front of the car while pulling back into the lane. No injuries were reported. The 15-year-old was cited for no valid driver’s license. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $300 while the car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.
