• Johnathan Cabral Rodriguez, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 10, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

• Jeremy Randall Nuss made an initial appearance on a warrant charging him with theft-fifth degree. Nuss pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 27 in Magistrate Court. Tyler Heeren is appointed as counsel. Nuss was released on his promise to appear.

• On Wednesday, a burglary to a motor vehicle was reported in the 400 block of West Church Street.

Accidents

• On Friday, Nov. 24, a vehicle driven by Marilyn Joyce Kroeger, 81, of Marshalltown, was exiting Walgreens parking lot when it broadsided a car driven by Carol Lynn Benskin, 65, of Ashburn, Va. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Kroeger vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Benskin car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, Nov. 23, a car driven by Theresa Margaret Walton, 59, of Marshalltown, was exiting a private driveway when it struck a legally parked Dodge Challenger. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Walton car was estimated at $1,000 while the Challenger received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, Nov. 23, a car driven by a 17-year-old male from Marshalltown failed to obey a flashing red light at the intersection South Sixth Street and West Iowa Avenue resulting in a collision with a vehicle driven by Kelly Lynne Kriegel, 35, of Marshalltown, in the intersection. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for no valid driver’s license and failure to obey a traffic control device.

• On Wednesday, Nov. 22, a pickup driven by Timothy Shawn Winger, 46, of Marshalltown, was driving through Legends parking lot when the glare of the sun blinded him for a moment causing Winger to strike the light pole. No injuries were reported. Winger was cited for driving under suspension. Damage to the Winger pickup was estimated at $4,500 while the light pole received an estimated $150 in damage.

• On Monday, Nov. 20, a car driven by Mlala Baruani Lutumia, 45, of Altoona, was eastbound on West Madison Street when the car’s brakes failed while approaching the intersection with South Third Street. The driver avoided striking another vehicle and in the process lost control of the car resulting in it striking a tree and a deck in the 200 block of West Madison Street. Lutumia was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Lutumia was cited for violation of an instruction permit limitation. Damage to the Lutumia car was estimated at $4,000 while the deck sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Monday, a theft was reported in the 2000 block of Eagle Ridge Drive.

• On Monday, a trespass incident was reported in the 800 block of South Center Street.

• On Monday, a theft was reported to the Marshalltown Police Department.

Arrests

• On Monday, Megan Kutzner, 26, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Monday, Dayron Travieso Rodriguez, 26, was arrested for public intoxication-first offense.

Accidents

• On Monday, Nov. 27, a vehicle driven by Ilona Dennise Avery, 53, of Tama, was eastbound on East Main Street at the intersection with North 12th Avenue when it collided with the rear of a minivan driven by Ramona Jean Kilborn, 68, of Marshalltown, which stopped abruptly in response to the vehicle in front of her. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,500 each.

• On Sunday, Nov. 26, hit and run damage was reported in the 100 block of North Fifth Street. Estimated value of damage is $1,800.

• On Sunday, Nov. 26, hit and run damage was reported in the 100 block of West Lincoln Street with an estimated value of damage at $2,500.

• On Sunday, Nov. 26, a vehicle driven by Joseph Dean Ashby, 35, of Marshalltown, was exiting a driveway when it struck a legally parked Acadia Denali. No injuries were reported. Ashby was cited for unsafe entry onto a sidewalk or roadway. Damage to the Ashby vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Acadia Denali received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, Nov. 25, a car driven by Mary Lou Murphy, 80, of Green, was northbound on East Anson Street when it left its lane and collided with the passenger side of a vehicle driven by Maria Guadalupe Mora Madrigal, 32, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Murphy was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Murphy car was estimated at $1,000 while the Mora Madrigal vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, Nov. 25, a car driven by Randy Lynn Hinders, 56, of Clemons, was westbound on West Main Street when it struck a legally parked Ford Fusion and then left the scene. No injuries were reported. Hinders was cited for striking an unattended vehicle and no insurance. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.
