• Marissa Dawn Nelson made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-cocaine-first offense charge, a possession of marijuana-second offense charge, a driving under suspension charge and a failure to obey a stop sign charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28. Nelson is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Michael James Johnson Jr. made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Victor Angel Valdez made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge. Jennifer Bonzer is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28. Valdez is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Michael John Liskowiak made an initial appearance on an illegal burning charge. Liskowiak pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

Incidents

• On Tuesday, a hit and run accident was reported on Washington Street.

• On Wednesday, a burglary incident was reported in the 1300 block of Summit Street.

Citations

• On Tuesday, Mario Gustavo Murillo, 21, was cited for no insurance.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Mario Murillo, 21, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Tuesday, Amanda Armendariz, 27, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Tuesday, Manuel Garcia, 27, was arrested for open container and driving while barred.

• On Tuesday, Kenneth Drumm, 45, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Wednesday, Khalil Yahya, 41, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

Accidents

• On Monday, a car driven by Stacie Lee Carmer, 23, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South Sixth Street when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Malynda Jean Aicher, 38, of Liscomb, which was stopped for school children crossing the street. Carmer was cited for failure to stop in the assured, clear distance. Damage to the Carmer car was estimated at $2,000 while the Aicher car received an estimated $500 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a vehicle driven by Daniel John Ring, 58, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Bromley Street when it struck a legally parked Buick Encore. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ring vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the Buick received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Reath Wechtour Dok, 36, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Union Street, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with North Seventh Avenue. Believing the driver had enough time to get through the intersection, he proceeded forward only to collided with the side of a car driven by Linda Jean Bailey, 56, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Dok was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way and no insurance-accident. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.

• On Monday, Justin Ryan Patton, 36, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Andrew Dean Huntrods, 20, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Friday,Ramiro Miguel Mendez, 19, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Monday, a a car driven by Casey Ray Sult, 36, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Wallace Avenue when it struck a deer that jumped on the roadway from the west ditch and crossed the road. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Sult car was estimated at $2,000.

• On Tuesday, a pickup driven by Joseph Donald McMillen, 28, of Grinnell, was westbound on Marble Road when a deer ran onto the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the McMillen pickup was estimated at $5,000.

Incidents

• On Saturday, a burglary was reported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office from the town of Melbourne.

Grundy County Sheriff

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Oct. 31, Dylan Hoffert, 19, of Grundy Center, was arrested on a Grundy County warrant charging him with theft-fourth degree and fraudulent practice-fourth degree on a Grundy Center Police Department case. Hoffert posted bond and was released.

• On Saturday, Oct. 28, Matthew Zager, 44, of Ankeny, was arrested on D67 at C Avenue and charged with operating while intoxicated-second offense. Zager posted bond and was released.

• On Thursday, Oct. 26, Nicholas Schwartz, 28, of Janesville, was arrested near Dike and charged with theft of a lottery ticket. Schwartz posted bond and was released.

Accidents

• On Monday, Oct. 30, a car driven by Pedro Lopez Rivera, 23, of Grundy Center, was northbound on Highway 14 at 320th Street when the driver looked down for his cell phone resulting in the wheel dropping off onto the shoulder, the driver over-corrected and lost control of the car. The car crossed the southbound lane and entered the west ditch where the vehicle rolled, coming to rest on its top. No injuries were reported. Lopez Rivera was cited for failure to maintain control and no valid driver’s license. Lopez Rivera was arrested for operating while intoxicated-first offense. He was released on his promise to appear. Damage to the Lopez Rivera car was estimated at $3,000.
