• Joel Douglas Teska made an initial appearance on a carrying weapons charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Dec. 22. Bond is set at $500 cash or surety.

• Nakia Aujeanae Daily made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-second offense charge and a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing on the substance abuse charge is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 22. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $7,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days of release.

• Harold Andrew Lathrop made an initial appearance on a theft-second degree charge and a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing on the substance abuse charge is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 22. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Quincy Ramone Minor made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge and a trespass-first offense charge. Minor pleaded not guilty. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is set at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2018 in Magistrate Court. Minor is released on his promise to appear.

• April Mae Steine made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a providing false identification information charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing on the substance abuse charge is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 29. Steine is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days of release.

• Asia Renae Roberts made an initial appearance on two counts of a trespass charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing on the substance abuse charge is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 29. Roberts is released on her promise to appear.

• On Monday, two burglaries from a motor vehicle occurred in the 1200 block of West State Street.

Accidents

• On Saturday, Dec. 9, a vehicle driven by Jennifer Ann Sharp, 36, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Governor Road stopped at the intersection with Iowa Avenue East when Sharp proceeded into the intersection resulting in the Sharp vehicle colliding with the driver’s side of a vehicle driven by Vivian May Tompkins, 86, of Marshalltown. Tompkins was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Sharp was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Sharp vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the Tompkins vehicle received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Friday, Dec. 8, a semi driven by Richard Wayne Shaw, 71, of Pensacola, Fla., was turning around in the 1000 block of North Third Avenue when the trailer pivoted and knocked down an Alliant Energy utility pole. Shaw continued on his way unaware of the damage left behind. A vehicle driven by Jordan Kiley Primus, 31, of Marshalltown, and a vehicle driven by Jeffrey Lee Vry,47, of Liscomb, were both northbound on North Third Avenue when they ran over the utility pole in the roadway causing undercarriage damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Shaw semi was estimated at $1,000 while the Primus vehicle estimated $2,000 in damage, the Vry vehicle $4,000 in damage and the Alliant utility pole an estimated $2,500 in damage.

• On Monday, Dec. 4, Richard Lee Shogren, 32, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Dec. 4, Nicholas Adam Weatherly, 32, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Dec. 4, Scott Allan Danner, 48, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Dec. 4, Rafael Ramirez-Cardenas, 28, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Stephen Thompson, 57, was arrested for driving while license is denied or revoked, open container and operation without interlock device.

• On Monday, Traci Jones Barker, 55, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, Quincy Minor, 24, was arrested for criminal mischief-fifth degree and trespass.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, a car driven by Curtis Dean Pfantz, 50, of State Center, was northbound on Highway 330 when multiple deer ran in front of the car resulting in a collision with the deer. No injuries were reported. The car was totaled, with damage estimated at $10,000, and towed from the area.

• On Monday, a vehicle driven by Ashley Sue Thurman, 20, of Beaman, was southbound on Taylor Avenue approaching the intersection with 120th Street. Thurman went through the stop sign and broadsided a pickup driven by Richard Gene Dewitt, 47, of Story City. Thurman and Dewitt received minor injuries and refused rescue assistance. Thurman was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Thurman vehicle was estimated at $4,000 while the Dewitt pickup received an estimated $15,000 in damage.
