• Crystal Lynn Perez made an initial appearance on a warrant charging her with probation violation. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Perez is being held without bond pending the hearing.

• Benjamin Albert Bradley, of Brooklyn, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred-habitual offender charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a driving under suspension charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2018. Bradley is released on his promise to appear.

• Jessica Ann Head made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2018. Head is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Tara Celeta Albee made an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2018. Albee is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Jolene Alyce Davenport made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Davenport is released on her promise to appear. The court ordered that she keep the Jan. 11, 2018 appointment at 9 a.m. with the substance abuse facility.

• A 17-year-old female made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 7, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

• Andrew Paul Haus made an initial appearance on a harassment-second degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2018.

• Leeza M. McMullen, of Eldora, made an initial appearance on a warrant charging her with failure to appear for a child support recovery hearing. The child support recovery hearing will be rescheduled by the District Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Timothy Sletten made an initial appearance on a speeding charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 31, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

• Brian Stalzer made an initial appearance on a failure to obey a stop sign charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 7, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

• Maria Vargas made an initial appearance on a violation of an instruction permit limitation charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 24, 2018, in Magistrate Court.

Accidents

• On Friday, Dec. 15, a car driven by Ross James Pentz, 27, of Albion, was westbound on Turner Street attempting to follow the curve in the roadway at too fast a speed resulting in the driver losing control and hitting the guide wires of the electrical pole, running up the wires with only the rear bumper touching the ground. The driver left the scene without leaving information. Pentz was cited for no valid driver’s license, failure to reduce speed to a reasonable rate and striking fixtures on a highway. Damage to the Pentz car was estimated at $1,000 while the light pole and guide wires sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Friday, Dec. 22, a semi driven by Daniel Travitzky, 33, of Collegeville, Penn., was eastbound on Marion Street making a right turn into JBS when it sideswiped a Chevy Trailblazer parked in an unmarked spot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Trailblazer was estimated at $3,000.

• On Saturday, Dec. 23, an 18-year-old was working on a Ford Expedition in a elevated parking lot when something mechanical happened to the brakes and the vehicle rolled forward striking a parked General Motors vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the General Motors vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the Ford received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, Dec. 26, a car driven by Jeremy Patrick Morris, 37, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on West Main Street when it entered the intersection with 13th Street on a red light and collided with a vehicle driven by Kelsey Kay Ambler-Harmon, 25, of Marshalltown, which was traveling north on 13th Street. No injuries were reported. Morris is cited for driving under suspension, no insurance and failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to the Morris car was estimated at $3,000 while the Ambler-Harmon vehicle received an estimated $8,000 in damage.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, a case of vandalism-hate crime with damage reported between $200-$500 in Melbourne was reported to the Marshall County Sheriff.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Jessica Ann Head, 35, was arrested for possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Tuesday, Benjamin Albert Bradley, 38, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid driver’s license, driving under suspension and driving while barred.

Accidents

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Kristy Lee Hauser, 23, of Albion, was exiting a parking spot at a convenience store in Albion when it collided with a car driven by Samantha Ann Howell, 23 of Albion, which was traveling through the lot. Passenger Channing Robert Williams was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Damage to the Hauser vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the Williams car received an estimated $4,500 in damage.
