• Shane Dean Rose made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge and a child endangerment charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 25. Rose is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 72 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Christin Marie Campbell Martin made an initial appearance on a warrant charging her with failure to appear for a sentencing hearing in two cases. The sentencing hearing is rescheduled at 2 p.m. on Jan. 8. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

• Scott William Haugan made an initial appearance on a possession of spring guns or traps charge and a trespass charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 25. Haugan is released on his promise to appear.

• Gunner Connett made an initial appearance on a possession of alcohol under the legal age limit charge and a social host charge. Connett pleaded guilty to both charges. On the possession of alcohol charge the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The fine on the social host charge is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Benjamin Hansen made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 2. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. Hansen is released on his promise to appear.

• Drew William Quick made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Quick pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320, due within 30 days.

• Rose Isela Nunez Gavina made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a striking unattended vehicle charge, a no insurance charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. She pleaded guilty to all charges. On the striking unattended vehicle charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The no valid driver’s license fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The fine on the no insurance-accident is $500 with a $175 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Ross James Pentz made an initial appearance on a striking unattended vehicle charge, a failure to reduce speed charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges. On the striking fixtures on a highway charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The no valid driver’s license fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The fine on the failure to reduce speed is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Jesse Adkins made an initial appearance on a failure to stop in an assured, clear charge and an expired driver’s license charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the failure to stop charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The expired driver’s license fine is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

Arrests

• On Friday, Dec. 22, Kent Larsen, 54, of Cedar Falls, was arrested on Highway 14 south of 280th Street and charged with operating while intoxicated-third or subsequent offense. Larsen posted bond and was released.• On Monday, Jan. 1, Pudoli Mendoza-Gonzalez, 28, of Marshalltown, was arrested at the intersection of Highway 14 and 20 and charged with driving while license is barred and driving while license is revoked.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Cayontae Guzzle, 18, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested by the Cedar Falls Police Department on a Grundy County warrant charging him with theft-third degree. Guzzle posted bond and was released.
