• Rafael Lopez Barboza made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a public intoxication charge. Lopez Barboza pleaded guilty to both charges. On the possession of drug paraphernalia charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75. The fine on the public intoxication is 65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Dominick Mattell Osborne made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge. Osborne pleaded guilty to the charge and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• A 16-year-old male from State Center made an initial appearance on a speeding charge and a reckless driving charge. The juvenile pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 14 in Magistrate Court.

• Brenda Nazira Backoff made an initial appearance on a striking fixtures charge, a failure to maintain control charge and a no insurance-accident charge. Backoff pleaded guilty to all charges. On the striking fixtures charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, plus restitution if applicable. The fine on the failure to maintain control charge is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195. The fine on the no insurance-accident is $500 with a $175 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Guillermo Arana made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. Proof of insurance was produced and the charges were dropped with $60 in court costs assessed. Arana pleaded not guilty on the driving under suspension and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 23 in Magistrate Court.

• Miguel Angel Vidales Mendez made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 9. Vidales Mendez was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Ruach Pal Jioklow made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 9. Jioklow is released on his promise to appear.

• Shaddare Watkins made an initial arraignment on an operating while intoxicated charge. Marshon Dubbert will continue as counsel. Watkins is ordered to meet with his attorney within 48 hours. The arraignment is too be filed by Feb. 5. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Jeremy Miller made initial appearance on a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge and a no registration. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 in Magistrate Court.

• Mario Alberto Gonzalez Lemus made an initial appearance on a no insurance-accident charge and a failure to stop in the assured, clear distance charge. Gonzalez Lemus pleaded guilty to both charges. On the no insurance charge the fine is $500 with a $135 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735. The fine on the failure to stop charge is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. All payments are due within 30 days.
