• Tori Lynee Sprague, of Cedar Rapids, made an initial appearance on two counts of a failure to appear for a trial charge, a failure to appear for a sentencing hearing charge, a ongoing criminal conduct charge and on a theft-second degree charge. Sprague will hire Darrel Meyer as counsel. On the ongoing criminal conduct and theft-second degree charges a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Feb. 16. Bond is set at $30,000 cash or surety. The trial will be rescheduled by the District Associate court for one of the cases. The bond on that one is $5,000 cash or surety. The second case of failure to appear has a pre-trial conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 in Magistrate Court. The sentencing hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associated Court and bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Jeremy Carl Odom Jr. made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Odom is being held without bond.

• Robert Steven Sanders made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge, a violation of a drug tax stamp charge and a possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16. Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that Sanders be photographed and fingerprinted in connection with this case. Upon release Sanders will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Hayli Marie Stier made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge. Aron Vaughn is appointed as counsel. The arraignment hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Jose Luis Ramirez Sanchez made an initial appearance through counsel, Michael Marques, on a sexual abuse-third degree charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Feb. 27. Ramirez Sanchez is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report immediately after court to the adult probation office and sign a pre-trial release agreement. If he owns or possesses any firearms, Ramirez Sanchez is to turn them over to the Marshalltown Police Department. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Bruce York, of Nevada, made an initial appearance on a serious assault charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 27. York is released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Justin Lee Davis made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Deonta Junior Brown made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Brown pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Marshall Freeman Hooper, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 17. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, a case of theft was reported in the 900 block of East Main Street. Loss is estimated under $200.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Jeremy Lavender, 32, was arrested for driving while barred.

• On Tuesday, Katherine Alman, 30, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Tuesday, Jordan Foreman, 30, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense and driving under suspension.

• On Tuesday, Hayli Stier, 26, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Deonta Brown Jr., 20, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant from another county.

• On Tuesday, Cindy Keleher, 40, was arrested for theft-fifth degree-shoplifting.

• On Tuesday, Justin Davis, 28, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Wednesday, Jeremy Odom, 36, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Monday, Feb. 5, a car driven by Chuanlian Thana, 35, of Des Moines, was eastbound on Marshalltown Boulevard when it went out of control and collided with a vehicle driven by Quinn I.H. Albrecht, 29, of Collins, and continued eastward and collided with a semi driven by Clee Harling Davis, 66, of Cedar Falls. No injuries were reported. Thana was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Thana and Albrecht vehicles were estimated at $10,000 each while the Davis semi received an estimated $1,000 in damage.
