• A 17-year-old male made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-displaying or using a dangerous weapon charge, a child endangerment charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing for the assault, child endangerment and drug paraphernalia charges is at 1 p.m. on March 16. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond in both cases is $2,000 cash only. No contact orders have been issued for the protected parties.

• Freddy Enriquez made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver charge, a drug tax stamp violation charge, a controlled substance violation charge, an unlawful possession of a prescription drug charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a providing a false identification information charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 16. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days of release.

Accidents

• On Sunday, Feb. 25, a vehicle driven by Cory Michael Kennedy, 18, of Traer, was northbound on Highway 14 when the driver became distracted while eating food, went off the roadway to the right and overcorrected resulting in the vehicle rolling over in the intersection with Wiese Garden Road before coming to rest in the northbound lanes on Highway 14. No injuries were reported. Kennedy was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Kennedy vehicle was estimated at $7,000.
