• Jessica Balvanz made an initial appearance on five counts of a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearings are set at 3 p.m. on March 22 in District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only for four of the cases.

• Gary Lee Shaw I made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a driving under suspension charge, an unlawful possession of prescription drugs charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a speeding charge, a no insurance charge and an operation without registration charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 27. Shaw is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Judith Eileen Roberts made an initial appearance on a pre-trial violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial release is revoked and the bond of $2,000 cash only was reinstated. An arraignment hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court.

• Joseph Lee Moore made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-impeding the flow of air or blood charge, a false imprisonment charge and a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 16. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Jordan Levi Foreman made an initial appearance on a theft-first degree charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 27. Foreman is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office to sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Jaramie Burshell Trumbo made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine-third or subsequent charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. Chad Frese is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 16. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• William Paul Bennett made an initial appearance on a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 16. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Joshua Clark Stanton made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Christian Stickrod will continue as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Stanton is released on his promise to appear. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Taira Lynn Pritchett made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a driving under suspension charge, an possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, an operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a no insurance charge and an improper brake light charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 27. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Jessica Stanton made an initial appearance on a warrant to revoke pre-trial release. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on March 9. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Taven Campbell made an initial appearance with counsel, Jeff Hazen, on a harboring a runaway charge and a disorderly conduct charge. He was also seen on a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing on these charges. The arraignment hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 16. Campbell is released on his promise to appear.

• On Tuesday, March 6, a theft was reported in the 300 block of Summit Street with los valued between $500-$1,000.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, March 7, Jessica Balvanz, 31, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, March 6, John Hardwick, 31, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Tuesday, March 6, Joshua Stanton, 36, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

• On Tuesday, March 6, Jordan Foreman, 30, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, March 6, Anthony Powell, 31, was arrested for interference with official acts.

• On Tuesday, March 6, Melissa Wade, 21, was arrested for interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

• On Monday, March 5, a pickup driven by Kevin Myers Shipley, 48, of Des Moines, was exiting a parking spot in a parking lot when it collided with the passenger side of a Mitsubishi that was stationary awaiting another vehicle to exit a parking spot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Shipley pickup was estimated at $1,000 while the Mitsubishi received an estimated $2,000 in damage.
