• Megan Lee Needs made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m on June 13. Needs is released on her promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Stephanie Nichole Ward made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Ward pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Myles William Eastwood made an initial appearance on two counts of a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m on June 13. Eastwood is released through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within eight hours of court to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Refugio Gonzalez made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a failure to appear warrant. Chad Frese will be hired as counsel. On the driving while barred charge the preliminary hearing will be at 1 p.m. on June 13. Gonzalez is released on his promise to appear. The District Associate Court will reschedule the hearing on the failure to appear case involving a driving while barred charge and a possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense charge. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

May 19

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a EMS call excluding vehicle accident with injuries to 1212 Marshall Drive, a citizen complaint at 1106 Westwood Drive, two dispatched/cancelled en route to 2700 Highway 146, Dunbar and 1401 S. 17th Ave., a building fire at 11 N. 10th Ave., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1005 W. State St., 919 N. Third Ave., 16 Iowa Ave. W., 2016 Edgebrook Drive, 2 N. Second Ave., 627 W. Nevada S., and 401 S. Center St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Third Avenue and State Street, an authorized controlled burning at 1711 Olson Way, and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 208 1/2 N.
