• Charles Lynn Poafpybitty made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense charge, a driving under suspension charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a failure to yield to an emergency vehicle charge, an improper registration lamps charge, a no insurance charge and a littering charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 8. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days of release.

• Orlando Lamar Lewis made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, a false identification information charge and a speeding charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 18. Lewis is released on his promise to appear.

• Juliann Elizabeth Johnson made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-causing injury or mental illness-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 8. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Emmanuel Efrain Rivera made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial supervision charge. Merrill Swartz will continue as counsel. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on July 13. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Larisa Paola Suarez made an initial appearance on a possession of alcohol under the legal age limit charge, a contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. Suarez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 20 in Magistrate Court. Aron Vaughn is appointed as counsel.

• Logan James Woods made an initial appearance on an unlawful passing of a school bus charge. Woods pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Rosalinda Torres Mora made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 15 in Magistrate Court. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Accidents

• On May 23, a minivan driven by Dorothy Ann Blair, 74, of Marshalltown, was northbound on 12th Street when it collided with the rear of a motorhome driven by Leslie Milton Blair, 72, which was stopped at the stop sign with Boone Street. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Blair motorhome was estimated at $2,000 while the Blair minivan received an estimated $6,000 in damage.

• On May 19, a minivan driven by Donna Joan Williams, 90, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Center Street when it attempted a left turn onto Southridge Road and collided with a car driven by Benjamin Allen Duff, 45, of Marshalltown, which was headed north on South Center Street. No injuries were reported. Williams was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to the Williams minivan was estimated at $4,000 while the Duff car received an estimated $8,000 in damage.

• On Monday, Juliann Elizabeth Johnson, 53, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-first offense.
