Wednesday

• Rickey Wayne Droddy made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Merrill Swartz was appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 8 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Griselda Sanchez Urquiza made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Sanchez Urquiza pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Jason Boles made an initial appearance on a violation of a no insurance charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 20 in Magistrate Court. The no insurance charge was dismissed after proof was submitted to the court with court costs of $60 assessed.

• Commy Deon Smith Jr. made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-impeding the flow of air or blood charge and three counts of a child endangerment charge. The public defender was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 8. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected parties.

• Hector Lizarde Garcia made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charge. Jeff Hazen will continue as counsel. The pre-trial conference will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. A bond forfeiture hearing is scheduled on July 18. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Dalton Allen Dillingham made an initial appearance on a violation of an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 18. Dillingham is released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Keygan Nathaniel Lee Hansen made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Hansen pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Tyrone Lamont Eatmon made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Eatmon pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Ezra Oliver Seymour made an initial appearance on a failure to stop in an assured, clear distance charge. Seymour pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Jeral McGee Fleming made an initial appearance on a violation of an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 18. Fleming is released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Daniel Lee Moore made an initial appearance on a violation of a no insurance charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 20 in Magistrate Court.

• Timothy James Leavy made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 18. Leavy is released on his promise to appear.

Incidents

• On Tuesday, a burglary of an unoccupied motor vehicle was reported in the 10 block of West Meadow Lane.

• On Tuesday, a theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of South Center Street.

• On Tuesday, a theft valued between $200-$500 was reported to the Marshalltown Police Station.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Commy Smith Jr., 22, was arrested for child endangerment and domestic abuse assault-impeding the flow of air or blood.

• On Tuesday, Kwand Woods, 43, was arrested for speeding and driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Tuesday, Rickey Droddy, 64, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

• On Wednesday, Ronald Daniel, 62, was arrested for public intoxication-first offense.

Accidents

• On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Donna Eileen Barber, 69, of Des Moines, was exiting a parking spot at Godfrey Motors when it collided with a vehicle driven by Terry Lynn Metz, 65, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,000 each.

• On Saturday, a car driven by Rebecca Michelle Rayman, 33, of Elberon, was westbound on Iowa Avenue East smoking a cigarette when Rayman dropped it on her leg and drifted into the outside lane while trying to retrieve it resulting in a motorcycle driven by Travis Leonard Yoerger, 56, of Newton, to lay down his bike throwing the passenger off. Yoerger and passenger Teresa Lynn Yoerger were treated at the scene for their injuries, but not transported. Rayman was cited for improper use of lanes, no insurance-accident and driving under suspension. The Yoerger motorcycle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Stephanie Vania Jewell, 28, of Huxley, was eastbound on Olive Street when the driver signaled to change lanes and a vehicle driven by Eh Hsar Shee, 28, of Marshalltown, pulled out in front of the Jewell vehicle resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Shee vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Jewell vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a pickup driven by Gregorio Saldana Herrera, 36, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Marion Street attempting to turn left onto North Third Avenue when it collided with a pickup driven by Donovan Edward Cole, 32, as it crossed in front of the Cole pickup. No injuries were reported. Saldana Herrera was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to both pickups was estimated at $1,000 each.

• On Monday, a vehicle driven by Heather Joy Ashby 42, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Third Avenue approaching a curve when Ashby turned too sharply and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Michael Robert Fouts, 43, of State Center. No injuries were reported. Ashby was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two-way road. Damage to the Ashby vehicle was estimated at $3,500 while the Fouts vehicle received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Maria G. Aguilera Gutierrez, 18, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Fourth Street stopped at the intersection with Olive Street and then proceeded forward colliding with a pickup driven by Dawn Delynn Giarratano, who was traveling eastbound on Olive Street. No injuries were reported. Aguilera Gutierrez was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Aguilera Gutierrez car was estimated at $10,000 while the Giarratano pickup received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On May 21, two thefts from a building were reported in Marshall County.

Citations

• On May 23, Logan Christopher Baccam, 18, was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age limit.

• On May 23, Codi Michael Heinrichs, 19, was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age limit.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Charles Poafpybitty, 43, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, improper registration plate lamp, no insurance, throwing litter and driving under suspension.

• On Tuesday, Stephanie Webber, 26, was arrested for driving while barred and driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Tuesday, Griselda Sanchez Urquiza, 28, was arrested on a warrant for theft-fifth degree.

• On Tuesday, Hector Lizarde-Garcia, 24, was arrested on a warrant for eluding.

• On Tuesday, Marissa Dawn Nelson, 25, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Rosalinda Torres Mora, 34, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

Accidents

• On May 17, a car driven by Robert Michael Schmidt Jr., 47, of Ames, was eastbound on Eastman Avenue when it failed to negotiate a curve in the road and entered the west ditch causing significant damage. No injuries were reported. Schmidt was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Schmidt car was estimated at $7,500.

• On May 17, a minivan driven by David Verne Knecht, 68, of Ames, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Knecht minivan was estimated at $4,000.• On May 24, a semi driven by Cole Fredrick Wegener, 19, of Fenton, which was hauling livestock had a tire fall off onto the soft shoulder resulting in sucking the trailer and cab off into the ditch where it rolled. No injuries were reported. Wegener was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the semi was estimated at $20,000.

• On May 18, a car driven by John Alan Hathaway, 29, of Iowa City, was southbound on Hopkins Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hathaway car was estimated at $7,500.

• On May 19, a pickup driven by Travis Edward Plaehn, 21, of Gilman, was southbound on Zeller Avenue when the driver fell asleep at the wheel resulting in the vehicle drifting then Plaehn awoke and overcorrected entering the west ditch where it rolled once and came to rest on its top.

No injuries were reported. Plaehn was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Plaehn pickup was estimated at $3,000.

• On May 21, a car driven by John Riley Cavanagh, 64, of Des Moines, was westbound on Highway 30 when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Cavanagh car was estimated at $8,000.

• On May 21, a car driven by Betty Lou Lynch, 91, of Conrad, was northbound on Sanford Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Lynch car was estimated at $1,500.

• On May 23, a minivan driven by a 17-year-old male from Marshalltown was exiting Highway 30 to Zeller Avenue when it collided with the rear of a pickup driven by Christopher S. Andrews, 36, of West Fork, Ark. No injuries were reported. The driver’s exchanged insurance cards. Damage to the juvenile’s minivan was estimated at $4,000.
