Friday

• Michelle Grommet made an initial appearance on an assault charge. Grommet pleaded not guilty. Christian Stickrod was appointed as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 27 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $300 cash only. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• James Robert Eckheart, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. Jeffrey Hazen was appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 25 in Magistrate Court. Eckheart is released on his promise to appear. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Christopher James Moore made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Tyler Heeren is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by an administrative court judge. Moore is being held without bond.

• Lucas Brooks, of Zearing, made an initial appearance on a theft-fourth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 2. Brooks is released on his promise to appear.

• Cheyenna Babcock, of Albion, made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge and a failure to yield upon a left turn charge. Babcock pleaded not guilty. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 25 in Magistrate Court.

• Peter Nyoch Bol made an initial appearance on an assault charge. Bol pleaded not guilty. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 18 in Magistrate Court.

• Lea Faye Bishop made an initial appearance on a no proof of vaccination charge. Bishop pleaded guilt and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due by July 31.

• Scott Edward Mills made an initial appearance on a dogs at large charge. Mills pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $60 in court costs and a $25 civil penalty for a total of $172.75, due by July 31.

• Marsha Gail Darby and Aung Moe made an initial appearances on a dogs at large charge. The judge entered a not guilty plea and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 27 in Magistrate Court.

• Amber Lee Pfantz made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge and a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 2.

• Curtiss Gerald Fogt made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 2. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Jose Cisneros Mendoza made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a leaving the scene of an accident charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way charge. Mendoza pleaded guilty to all charges. On the leaving the scene the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The fine on the driving charge is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The fine on the stop sign violation is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195. All payments are due within 30 days.

Incidents

• On Thursday, theft from a motor vehicle was reported to the Marshalltown Police Department.

• On Thursday, two thefts from motor vehicles was reported in the 400 block of North Center Street.

• On Thursday, a theft of a bicycle was reported to the Marshalltown Police Station.

Accidents

• On Friday, a pickup driven by Elena Louise Hinders, 20, of Clemons, was northbound on South Center Street when the driver looked away from traffic and collided with the rear of a car driven by Loretta Ann Werner, 78, of Toledo, which was slowing for traffic sending her car into the rear of a pickup driven by Maria Del Carmen Flores, 42, of Ankeny. No injuries were reported. Hinders was cited for no insurance-accident and Flores was cited for driving under suspension. Damage to the Flores pickup was estimated at $1,000 while the Werner car received an estimated $6,000 in damage and the Hinders pickup an estimated $250 in damage.

• On Thursday, Lucas Scott Brooks, 23, was arrested for theft-fourth degree.

• On Thursday, Cole Weatherly, 23, was arrested on a warrant.

June 10

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a search for a person in water at 402 Woodland St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 109 N. Second St., and 1619 Sd. 12th St.

June 9

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three dispatched/cancelled en routes to: 610 W. Linn St., 511 S. Seventh Ave., and 2907 S. Sixth St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 410 W. Linn St., 2610 W. Lincoln Way, 108 S. Second St., and 511 S. Seventh Ave.

June 8

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to 10 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1301 Summit St., 109 N. Second St., 3315 S. Center St., 1519 W. Church St., 907 W. Boone St., two to 206 Nicholas Drive, two to 109 N. Second St., and 105 E. Webster St.

June 7

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 211 W. Church St., and 10 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 802 S. Center St., 109 N. Second St., 604 E. Church St., 1516 E. Olive St., 212 Washington St., 201 N. Eighth St., 2802 S. Center St., 208 1/2 N. Third Ave., 1211 W. State St., and 1506 Laurel Drive.

June 6

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from machinery at 507 Westwood Drive, an EMS call excluding vehicle accident with injury at 408 N. 13th Ave., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 105 W. Boone St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2305 S. Eighth St., 1211 W. State St., and 3202 S. 12th St.

June 5

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a municipal alarm system, malicious false alarm at 125 S. 11th St., a carbon monoxide detector activation, no CO at 1406 Fairway Drive, two unauthorized burnings at 711 Washington St., and 705 Union St., three dispatched/cancelled en routes to: 2907 S. Sixth St., 2009 S. Center St., and 306 S. Fourth Ave., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 630 Ratcliffe Drive, 921 N. Third Ave., First Street and Main Street, 504 Iowa Ave. W., 3202 S. 12th St., 204 S. 11th St., and 602 Walters Circle.

June 4

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle at 3202 S. 12th St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 201 E. Main St., 104 W. Webster St., 2704 Nelson Road, 15 E. Southridge Road, 408 N. 13th Ave., 1104 E. State St., and 206 N. First Ave.
