• Jeffrey Smith made an initial appearance on an extradition request from Illinois, Colorado and Missouri. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The extradition hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Smith is being held without bond.
• Juan Carlos Gonzalez Jr. made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, an operating while under the influence-first offense charge and a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 25. Gonzalez was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.
• Jose Campos Ledesma made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge, a careless driving charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 25. Ledesma is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.
• Brandon Lee Wanatee made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 25. Wanatee is released on his promise to appear. The court ordered that Wanatee be photographed and fingerprinted on this case at the Marshalltown Police Department by July 5.
• Juliana Lemus made an initial appearance on a tinted window violation charge. She pleaded not guilty and the pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 11 in Magistrate Court.

Accidents
• On Wednesday, a car driven by David Alan Stevens, 31, of Marshalltown, was westbound on 280th Street attempting to make a left turn onto Underwood Avenue when it crossed the path of a car driven by Emilee Rae Upah, 22, of Marshalltown, which was traveling north on Underwood resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Stevens car was estimated at $1,500 while the Upah car received an estimated $1,100 in damage.
